  1. Heel toe - what pedals

Old- but would like to know- did you just drill thru the stock gaspedal (and cover) and attach the steeda?
  2. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Yes exactly! Thanks so much, phasers and chains this weekend..
  3. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Okay guys- it’s been a while since parts were not available for months…now I’m getting back at it and installing cam caps…been too long so I forgot- are the numbers upside down when installed? If so, then I stored properly..
  4. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Thanks- ran 40k. Following the tapping sound openend it up and noticed scoring/scratches on the camshafts and caps (not the journals). Also some lifters were soft..looks like no bent or burnt valves, some carbon buildup but believe that’s not weird. Heads look very clean, but did find some...
  5. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Took some endoscope pictures of the valves- do they look normal?
  6. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Seems like I need a new head then..anyone know where I can find a ready-to-go head instead of all these ā€˜semi-finished’ ones (whatever that may mean)?
  7. Tapping sound after timing chain job

They’re similar to the ones in the video you posted, so already primed a few last night, thanks for sharing. Happy to share pictures later if you want
  8. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Ok so- scorching on exhaust camshaft and scratches (can feel with nail) on journal- all exhaust lash adjusters soft, intake side adjusters firm…potential damage material in the lash adjuster gallery… question now is- how can I clean/unclog the gallery without damaging or pushing debris further...
  9. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Yes thank you- was thinking about this, but it’s just weird that several lifters on the passenger side are soft whereas all of ā€˜m on the driver side are firm. I’m thinking perhaps some oil blockage or flow restriction on the passenger side? Not sure how that’s possible though..
  10. Tapping sound after timing chain job

No- they all look great..can’t imagine I did something different on the driver side when I replaced the lash adjusters last than on the passenger side…
  11. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Alright so- some updates. Everything looks perfectly fine really. However, on the passenger side (where the tapping sound comes from) I can easily depress several lash adjusters by pushing on the rocker with my finger. On the driver side none of them move, they’re very stiff. I replaced all...
  12. Tapping sound after timing chain job

In the process of pulling it apart- but with the passenger valve cover off it appears the secondary tensioner does its job..timing cover off the coming days. Will report could it also be something ā€˜deeper’- the rattle cant be valves, right?
  13. Tapping sound after timing chain job

This was exactly my experience, the new secondary tensioners from the kit were shorter, same as in your picture. They would engage/click properly in the bracket though. However, the passenger side one didnt ā€˜pop’ when activated like the driver side, so hoping it is ā€˜just’ that and I’ll just have...
  14. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Will be going at it with a stethoscope tomorrow. Used ford performance kit M-6004-A5015B that states 5.0 but dealer told me it’s a fit after giving him my VIN- but now I’m thinking….
  15. Tapping sound after timing chain job

yeah sry for not being clear- The car sat for about a year so I cannot recall how loud the engine is (including me taking months replacing timing chains/vct etc), but before starting I primed the engine properly and did the crank/pressure buildup trick- so it’s well lubricated and primed before...
  16. Tapping sound after timing chain job

Hey folks- I changed timing chains, tensioners, guides, cam phasers, lash adjusters, roller fingers - the whole thing. Took my time, by the book, buttoned everything up correctly, oil pressurized through the oil sensor hole and it fired up perfectly, no CEL. One of the cam phasers failed, so I...
  17. Camshaft reinstall

Anyone with some first hand experience that can take my doubts away? Much appreciated!
  18. Camshaft reinstall

Makes sense- I removed all timing parts, chains, phasers and put LH and RH properly in neutral, so see no reason that I cannot just go ahead and remove RH cams after LH- unless I’m missing something..so kinda reluctant..
  19. Camshaft reinstall

Hello- I’m doing lash adjusters/roller followers and reinstalling LH cams, but only now I see in the workshop manual that if both sides are being done, you have to start with RH side…any reason why? Or can I still do RH now after LH being done? Thanks
  20. Oil Pan & RTV

Great stuff guys, thanks- was hoping to do this without hoisting the engine..which hoisting points did you use @TRDFurgesson & @JohnVallo ? And assuming first put timing cover back on before applying rtv and reinstalling oil pan? Thanks again
