I actually find the new search function great. It's contextual so it'll give you extra options depending on where you are on the site - like when you're in a thread, it'll pop up an option to search the thread. :thumbsup:

When you're in the thread you want to search, just click the search icon in the header menu bar and click on "Search This Thread Only" option.
