I bought some base GT/Ecoboost Premium split spoke 18in wheels off a member of the forum, and fitted winter tires (Michelin X-Ice Xi3). Not the cheapest way, as TireRack had 17in wheels and tires for less... The winter rubber is also better on cold roads, but I haven't had chance to test them...

I like the lack of badging, but given a choice I'd look for something similar to the Saab 9-5 2.3t badge, or one like the Lincoln MKC but with RWD rather than AWD...

Just a quick picture of my base Ecoboost Mustang, with its winter tires which are mounted on a set of base GT (Ecoboost Premium) wheels I picked up off the forum. I'm using 235/50R18 Michelin X-Ice3 tires. I now need to change my avatar until the spring... Here are the old wheels for reference.

Finally managed to install 235/50R18 Michelin X-Ice3 on the rims... Seems more planted in sub 40deg weather, and should handle the snow/ice better! Like the look of the split spoke alloys - more GT than sports car - but I still think the Foundry alloys are my favorite 18" OEM rim.

Having seen the wheels on the car when I picked up the 18in OEM wheels (which get winter rubber tomorrow), I have to complement you on your choice of wheel, they suit to car, and the drop in unsprung weight should give a nice performance upgrade.

I'd go the other way and white then out... 5.0 made of shadows and highlights.

Thanks for the offer. I'm currently working on a deal for the 18" EB Premium style wheels - as much as I like the Foundry alloys... I couldn't offer much for a third set - $750, which is less a than they're worth at the moment.

I would think it would be quite common. They're more interested in increasing the resale value, and also the up sell at the lot... I nearly went for the 51A package V6 over my base Ecoboost with the same wheels, it was a very hard choice!

I'm interested in the wheels without tires....

You'll love Ingot Silver. If it weren't for the fact that I have just had a Magnetic shade care for the last 12 years I may have gone Magnetic, but I also went Ingot... It's stunning in the metal.
