  1. Is the top speed of the v8 electronically limited?

I noticed that the two of you with different results (140 vs 155) have different model year cars. That could possibly make the difference. The other, more likely thing, is that ford sets the limiter according to the speed rating of the tires the car came with for liability reasons. *Edit*...
  2. Boosted Auto car question

It happens sometimes. I doubt any of the first 3 tunes you listed damaged it, I have no way of guessing about the custom one. It could be a factory defect that had the transmission already going, like someone above mentioned. I bet you'll LOVE the car when you get this fixed and can lay down...
  3. Squashing Misinformation on Billet Gears (Oil Pump, Crankshaft Sprocket) OPG

Uncontrolled harmonics damage just about everything. Crankshafts can break from that in extreme cases.
  4. Boosted Auto car question

THAAAT'S what I was afraid of. 6R80's ARE strong, but like any man made device, not every one ever made is 100% perfect. Sometimes there are minor defects that don't show during normal use, or the tune could have caused it. Not saying it did cause it, simply that it's possible for a tune to...
  5. Boosted Auto car question

Look at the log, pay attention to rpm and output shaft speed. When it happens, do they basically track each other, or does rpm flare way up while output shaft speed stays about the same? If it's the latter, then it's not wheelspin, and is in the transmission.
  6. Vibration between 50 & 70 mph

I wanted to check back in-mine got a new driveshaft yesterday. It's probably 90% fixed, maybe better. It's good enough I'm not going to complain if it stays the way it is now. The tech did mention to me that a tsb has just been issued for driveshaft vibrations on these cars, and that mine was...
  7. Boosted Auto car question

Uh oh, that doesn't sound good. I hope you didn't blow through the converter or slip the clutches.
  8. JPC single kit

Are these heavy cars in the 7's with a glide using an aftermarket case? I'd be kinda surprised if a stock case would last much at all in that scenario.
  9. Hellion Kit Owner's (Chime In)

You guy's reasoning for putting the turbos close to the exhaust ports underneath the car is probably the same as mine for putting the turbos above the exhaust ports, but still close-quick spooling. In my case, I'm mounting 2 small T3 flange turbos on a 5.3 ls motor in a datsun 240z, and using...
  10. Hellion Kit Owner's (Chime In)

I'm not sure I follow. Having the turbos hung right off the manifolds , thereby minimizing the heat and velocity loss between the exhaust ports and turbine housings ADDS lag? How does that work? What boost leak? Is there some inevitable leak that would occur on a low mount turbo setup...
  11. JPC single kit

Yeah, to hell with that. I live in Alabama, and anyone I know would be sweating like a chore in hurch with no a/c.
  12. HP Limit!?!?!?

I know I'm not one of the experts, but the limit is somewhat subjective and variable depending on how much risk of failure you can tolerate, what power adder you're going to use, what fuel you're going to run, etc. There are certain numbers at which it's blindingly obvious you need certain...
  13. average cruise afr's on e85

For cruise conditions only, on e85 only, what would be the consequences of leaning it out close to the point of misfire? I wouldn't think you'd burn anything up, including the cat converters, because the ethanol burns so much cooler than gasoline.
  14. average cruise afr's on e85

Damn, I was hoping it could be leaned out some. Mileage, especially in the city, is pretty bad. We're talking 10 to 11 mpg here. Highway mileage is low 20s.
  15. average cruise afr's on e85

Hi all, For those of you running e85, what do your afr's average according to your dash display when you're just cruising along? My car is stone stock other than the tune, and I'm seeing afr's bounce around from 10.1 to 10.6 or so. That seems a little rich to me for such a low load...
  16. Strange turbo issue....normal?

Normal on a mostly stock car. An aftermarket wastegate actuator might reduce this, but it also probably won't eliminate it. The computer adjusts boost continuously, so that's likely part of it.
  17. JPC single kit

    Yeah, I think T6.
  18. JPC single kit

That looks awesomely executed, but what worries me is the fact that all that hot piping and the turbocharger itself is under the hood and sort of surrounding the engine, vs the twin setups that put the turbos approximately where the cat converters were. I can't see how underhood temps could...
  19. EB to GT

I traded mine so fast because that's when I decided I wanted a gt. I know that sounds crass, but it's the truth. I was able to do it so I did. I also got a premium this time instead of a base model.
