THANK GOD. This car could be PERFECT if it had a manual option. My guess is that they release the DCT for the first model year, so all of the tests are completed by the magazines with the DCT times, than the 2021 MY, Ford releases a 7-speed manual transmission option
I am pretty damn bummed there is no manual transmission option. I think the rest of the car is perfect. If the ZR1 can have a 7-speed manual in it's 755 HP LT5, then the GT500 can have the same transmission. Im hoping Ford decides to at least offer manual transmission as an option later on...
I remember "enthusiasts" saying this about the 2000 Cobra R, the 2001 Cobra, the 2003 Cobra, and then the 2004 Cobra. And then of course the 2014 GT500 was the 'last of it's kind', and we would never see another car with over 650 HP from the factory. Those people sound so foolish now.
One of my dream builds is to do this to a 2018 GT Premium with the manual transmission and PP2. Excellent thread. BTW, I go crazy if I am not wrenching on a project or 'goal' as well. Keeps me busy, clears the head as well
I am 33 years old and I just decided to enlist in the Army as infantry. I have been waiting 4 years for this new GT500. I ship to OSUT at Ft Benning on 12/31/18 and will be in boot camp and infantry school for 3+ months. I am going to miss the reveal of this car I have waited so long for
This car continues to dissapoint.
Something happened to Ford once they started really pushing the EcoBoost moniker. About the same time they 'dissolved' SVT. I miss the John Coletti type.
My dad has a terminal illness and hes an old school car guy and I was thinking it would be a fun project to get an old used 5.0 302 V8 from like a older Explorer and do a basic rebuild of the motor and put it in his Ranger. His truck has the 4.0 V6 but it has like 200,000+ miles on it.
Is it...
This is a relief. That style of spoiler looks really nice, and I was afraid we'd be stuck with a huge, ugly fixed wing. Cant wait to see this GT500, but Ford seems to be dragging their feet.
Even if it is revealed tomorrow, the GT500 has taken way too long to develop. It would have to be an insanely special car to live up the hype at this point, and I just dont see that happening.
