I can only say that I did test drive the Camaro zl1 before I bought my first GT350 in 2016, and I kind of liked it. But then I hopped in the GT350, and fell in love within the first mile. Needless to say, I sold my GT350 to buy a GT350R, that's how much I enjoyed it... I love the R to bits...
