Got a made from scratch Apricot Crumble cake on deck after I go out and get the ingredients later on this morning.
I made one last time they were here, wife pulled it from the oven and set it across a hot burner and scorched the bottom of half the cake. Her aunt and uncle from PA were fighting...
Wife has family coming up this weekend, some came yesterday from Panama City and some will be here today from Pennsylvania.
I let this Boston Butt sit in the fridge for a few hours with a mustard binder and SPG and Meat Church Honey Hog for the seasoning.
On the smoker last night at 8pm, 250°...
I get their flyers emailed to me and sometimes their products are ridiculously cheap. It's interesting to me how the pricing/economy varies so much by region
Thanks! I love hearing stories of other people's experiences, I've only ever seen pickled bologna online.
However I ordered a bunch of stuff from https://www.dutchmansstore.com/
They're in Iowa. I ordered their beef bologna...
That didn't take long to fling a craving on myself lol
Found some Mexican melting cheese and some grated parmesan, pretty good! Maybe could use a slice of tomato and maybe a fried egg next time.
Best grilled cheese I ever had was in Time's Square with ham and tomato. Not sure what they did...
I think a grilled bologna and cheese will offset that salt and should be pretty good! I don't have any "good" cheese slices, just those fake orange American slices...we'll see what I land on lol
Thanks for all the feedback! I think you're right about using the tenderloin and yes, I'm a little hesitant about the egg yolk lol...but I also think it's part of the "authentic" experience. I'll Google around some more, I have some small tenderloins in the freezer...I can set the bags in some...
Odd combination tonight, went to Kroger for a few small things so I could make some pickled okra...saw that lobster tails were $6 each. I don't eat lobster but I asked my son if he wanted to try it. So I grabbed a pair for the smoker. I also grabbed a small chub of bologna for the smoker...
Never realized they have a semi-sweet (what I bought) and a standard.
There's another brand that they carry sometimes and it's awesome as well...I'll have to try and find the name of it
edit: I think it was Kagome brand. TBH though, I haven't found a bad one yet!
Good eye. Impressed you know it's Japanese!
I get it at one of the local Asian Markets, it's really tonkatsu sauce but Bulldog makes the best IMO. Kikkoman makes a really good one as well that might be easier to find. Or possibly even Amazon, they have everything lol
Lol, thanks man! Gonna be a family reunion of sorts in another week so I have a few things in the works that I'll post up!
You cook some awesome stuff, can't wait to see what you cook up, pun intended!
Pork Cubed steak. Flour, eggwash, then seasoned Panko and off to be deep fried. Man these are crunchy and great!
Gotta have the Bulldog Sauce to go with em!
Sides were instant potatoes and a can of green beans. Nothing pic worthy lol
I think this one was cheap, it was choice. I'm pretty sure I got it from Kroger or Publix on sale so I feel pretty sure I got it for under $10/lb. Even though it's choice, it's still a real good steak if cooked and seasoned right. I don't remember where I got it from bc I cut the package open...
I can't remember where I got it, I've had it for awhile and it's been on my mind to cook it. I bought the replacement for it this past weekend lmao! I got a tomahawk at one of the higher end supermarkets in the next town up. I misjudged it in the case as it rang up 3.38lbs also
Me and my son split it, we like our steaks rare/medium rare...I can put away some steak but 3.4lbs was a bit much for one sitting 😆
Cooked a pair of small fillets for the wife, she likes her steaks med well/well. Kills me lol
