I put snows on my oem wheels since the extra set of wheels needed a few weeks to deliver (delivery last December). When I got the wheels in from need 4 speed, I mounted the super sports and put them on in spring
used Pirelli Sottozero's last winter on a separate set of wheels - i really liked them, put 12k miles on the set and see some rear wear but still good for at least another season. I would not risk the pilot SS's in the cold unless you are only driving very sporadically and dont want to deal...
Yup - 8.5" x 19" MMD Axim Wheel that I had a wheel shop cut down to 6" width and mounted a BMW i3 tire on it. Trunk cover doesn't sit totally flush but close enough.
i am running Pirelli's (Sottozeros...285 fr, 295 rear - overall diameter is pretty close to stock Michelin SUpersports). Using MMD FS01 as extra set of wheels. i drove mine over winter but not in sloppy stuff...have 8k miles in 6 months - sweet DD!
after cold start, definitely louder for me but i try to be on throttle / load or off throttle which makes it less noticeable. If i really listen for it when warm, i can hear it but not particularly loud.

Thx for the idea John (OP)! I did the same for mine except got the black rim...used the same BMW i3 tire pumped up to max pressure for load purposes. I am totally old school...the peace of mind is worth it since this is my DD that i use for road trips too. Mine doesnt fit totally...
