  1. Would you take out an 8 year car loan for a car you cannot afford?

We didn't start getting tired of this until recently. We're just done but stay with it given the stock market returns. We've also got another car project that uses some resources. It would be nice to not have to budget both.
  2. Would you take out an 8 year car loan for a car you cannot afford?

FWIW, we're about 16 months from paying off the 2016's zero interest Ford loan (100% financed - none of our money was used). But the payment is getting old; very old. Believe me when I say we've considered paying this thing off early. But my financial sense knows that is not the way to go...
  3. Performance Pack Spare Tire

Took my '16 to the dealer for it's scheduled oil change/inspection (pre-purchased). They did the tire rotation too. But it's a PP car. I didn't know they did the rotation, so when I was tracking the car I was surprised to hear the front tire rubbing. I still drove the car another week before I...
  4. What are you favorite first mods on your S550 Mustang?

KW v3 suspension followed by resonator delete/x-pipe replacement.
  5. These bad boyz have arrived (lightweight rotors, raised lateral links): Will share impressions soon

FWIW, I bump steered my Fox chassis. Very involved, time consuming process. And I had to buy the tool to do it. On the fox I had to remove the C/O springs in order to get the suspesion in full droop, and meassuered along the entire range - both sides. Then put it all back together. After that...
  6. 2016 Mustang Cracked Bumper and detached clips

My 2016 apparently was bumped in the parking lot enough to snap the front bumper's retaining clips on one side. No other damage, but the cover was sticking out a bit. According to the dealer the broken clips render the cover non repairable. So, insurance claim and replaced cover. I was very...
  7. Would you take out an 8 year car loan for a car you cannot afford?

Jeez Norm, right with you. I'm also 72, retired, on a Fed pension, SS, and RMDs. Wife is 12 years younger, also retired, but we don't need withdrawals from her investments and she's not eligible for SS yet; just her pension. We sold the big house and moved into our new down-sized version with...
  8. Today’s car guys vs yesterdays car guys?

I do most of my own work, including but not limited to suspension (springs, struts, torque arms, a-arms, etc.), alignments, oil changes (when not part of a special deal), brake pads, rotors, lines and flushes, sensors, and some electronics (e.g., stereo and old EFI). I even corner weighted...
  9. Getting A Little Nervous Driving This Thing

Hate driving in DC. When I worked down there I took the metro since the office was right above a station. Bought the s550 after job moved to Woodlawn near Balto. Took ICC to 29 both ways; much safer and enjoyable
  10. Best oil drain valve?

A Ford Tech - no fuss no mess. Super deal when I bought the car.
  11. Confirming what is legal for SCCA F-Street Setup

Recently I've been playing with air pressure. The wheels are stock GTPP with MPSS at 265/285/40s plus a 7mm front spacer, stock bars and KW v3s (not FS legal). I run a K&N drop in, MM CC plates (camber is modest at -2* F; 1.9* rear), and replaced the resonator with an x-pipe; stock cat-back...
  12. Advice-How to remove Front Strut Pins

For future readers, put a jack under the control arm and raise it just enough to take preload downward force off the strut. This may take some trial and error to get enuogh preload off the fasteners. But once done, those splined bolts nearly pop out with a hit or two. Be sure to use the...
  13. Keep losing battery cover fasteners.

Been more that two years since mine disappeared. Cover doesn't move. I suppose if one needs to have the holes filled with something all of the above solutions satisfy the need. But the fasteners are not required to hold the cover in place.
  14. What do you do?

It's not "what price can I get it for". I believe the OP asked what members of the community do to afford one of these cars. "Afford" is a slippery slope which usually requires some opportunity costs. I choose to call the GT350 or GT500 a Mustang; and won't pay a ridiculous premium for one.
  15. What do you do?

Retired - have the money. Still won't buy a $70K Mustang. Have other things I'd rather do. Used their money to buy the '16 - none of mine.
  16. Rant time...what's the worst thing about your Mustang?

Would have liked my Recaros with power, cool and heat. Got them anyway.
  17. How many GTs are Owned by Seniors?

Bought my '16 GT PP Premium new at age 69 after totaling the Cobra. Still have the '86 Resto Mod. In my mind, "senior" is only a social category. I tend to ignore such characterizations.
  18. Quad Exhaust Depression

x2 - stock mufflers with resonator replaced with x-pipe. No rasp, no drone and lots of compliments.
  19. Had and H pipe installed today

16 GT PP with x and stock mufflers. No drone or rasp, deep rumble at idle and I'm always being complemented on how it sounds at mid-throttle and WOT.
  20. Which is the best steering technique?

Shuffle. Hands never leave the wheel nor move over center. Much more control and manageable leverage. On both the street and track, steering inputs are modest and precise. Not talking about parking or taking a standard street corner.
