IDK about turbo diesels but i ran a K&N on my STI and my Legacy GT each for over 100k miles and never had any turbo issues with either car. The only common advice i came across was to let the filter sit out overnight on your counter or other clean area to allow some of the oil to dry out a bit...
Wow just killed an hour at work reading through this whole thread. A lot of varying opinions and it was entertaining to say the least. One thing i noticed that no one brought up though was that while to some the gaps are enexcusable and others are ok with them, I wonder if they are within Ford...
I dont know the reasons behind the why but here is cobbs explanantion and the only difference i know for sure between the cars themselves. Maybe COBB could elaborate a little bit more to explain the why
What did we learn?
Well for one, a full 4th gear sweep is extremely long and painful for...
to the OP- there are a lot of factors on getting to the 400HP point. I would look at what they re doing with teh Focus ST as that motor is basically a smaller displacement of the ecoboost in the mustang. but looking at the recent dyno graphs and gains from tunes etc i think it would be fairly...
Well eclipses and evos (with the 4g63) would choke, stumble, stall, run horribly rich etc. with an atmospheric BOV unless you had a tune to go along with it.
WRX/STI will run rich also but wont stall out from an atmospheric BOV.
it really depends on the car but some benefit more with a...
I imagine if your commute is 60 miles that most of that is highway. but for me i love rowing my own gears and my commute is not so much stop and go as it is just distance so it doesnt bother me. But i will say my STI was a bitch in traffic.
IMO though i think you should go with the manual...
Thats true to an extent but there is such a thing as the VW/Audi Tax... i.e. stainless steel catless downpipes for an S4..... can find basically the same product and some are 400-500 and others are 1800.... but overall i understand and agree with what ur saying.
would sound cool but there can be issues with venting to the atmosphere. Some cars handle it better than others. for example a WRX/STI can handle an atmospheric BOV, but Evo's and Turbo eclipses have been known to have issues running them.
Hmmmm so a suitcase just like the 5.0. and my god that route looks very inefficient. I wonder what flexibility an exhaust manufacturer will have with different routing. Those 2 right angles look like power killers
Thats a good thing. If everyone liked how OEM compenents were built there would be no innovation. And how exactly would you like them to quantify performance differences with shifter? Id look for more durability/feel of it before anything else.
to be fair though it is well known that the tires on the BRZ are a huge limiting factor. swap them out and i bet it gets much closer in braking and handling.
