You must have gone to the SVT event! I've seen that picture, recently.
I went to the Porsche club event today.
I saw a lot of cars with downturns like that.
I pulled the active exhaust fuse to force it to stay in quiet mode. I had no problems with sound. I was 72-73 dB at 75'.
What I...
I've done more research and asked around and a stock GT with active exhaust may fail the 87 dB at 75' sound regulation, even with the exhaust in quiet mode. The valves open at WOT and high RPM, so it's not exactly quiet anymore.
Some have jury-rigged baffles with chicken wire, steel wool, and...
Excelent explanation, thanks.
When I put the car in Track mode (and change nothing else), I see the Advance-trac icon on the dash. What does that indicate?
I think I'll keep Advance-trac on for the first run. To make sure I can find my way around the course and get a feel for the width of...
Thanks for the thoughtful response.
It's so much bigger than the Miata!
It's a PP2, so it has MagneRide, "Unique Track Inspired Springs and Sway Bar", and wider tires and wheels.
Ok, yes, this is what I'm looking for. This would explain the "Trac Off!" note taped to the steering wheel I...
I'm going to my first autocross in more than 10 years. Last time I autocrossed regularly was in a 1999 Miata without even ABS, never mind traction control, stability control, multiple drive modes (sport, track, etc), and of course, nowhere near the amount of power the Mustang has.
It's a 2019...
Thanks, yes it is Devens.
It would be reassuring if I knew that exhaust track mode wouldn't be a problem. Then I could simply put the car into track mode and not have to remember to also put the exhaust into normal mode.
Is track mode (driving, not exhaust) even what I want for autocross...
Yes, that's what the regulation is. It's in two parts:
87 dB at 75' under full throttle.
and
8 dB over ambient at the property edge
-----
I imagine there's some local busybody at the property edge looking for 8dB over ambient.
My local autocross club has this sound regulation:
-----
Cars may only be 8 dB over ambient instead of 10 dB at the property edge and may only be 87 dB at 75' under full throttle.
If you fail then you cannot run that car again that day.
We are told that there will be no second chances so...
Thanks for the advice everyone.
I went for a drive in the Mustang today for the first time since my injury in October.
It was a 40 degree day, and the roads were damp, but the 305 summer tires still had enough grip.
The car started without any problems.
Brake rotors had surface rust and...
I had an incident and broke my right leg around Halloween. I needed a couple of surgeries to fix things and I'm doing better now. I won't be able to drive until I heal enough to get rid of this boot. Probably at least another 6-12 weeks. IDK for sure.
Because of the injury, I was unable to...
I want to know more about this too.
What size exactly?
325/30-19?
What model?
TireRack doesn't make it easy to search for two different size tires at once.
