While I think the design team did a great job, I actually prefer all those renderings, minus the b pillars and fog lights, over what we got. Lets hope the first refresh looks more like these.
That wide body rendering looks too cartoonish. It is way out of proportion with the styling of the rest of the car. It reminds me of a digitally enhanced photo of an overly muscular body builder.
The recent uptick in Mustang sales could be all the people who have been holding out 'till the 6g was released and decided they like the look of the current model better. Notice on the graph Mustang sales dropped as speculation about the S550 heated up. Notice too that Camaro sales spiked when...
If Ford isn't giving the 2.3 a special designation it might lend credence to the suspicion that the v6 will be phased out, and the 2.3 will become the base model. They might evaluate sales, performance and reliability and decide they don't need two engines with the same hp. I think it will hinge...
Could just be the fluorescent lights giving it a greenesh tint. I would actually want to see a car in guard or magnetic before signing on the dotted line.
From this interview, I get the impression that the design process was a painstaking process of compromise without compromising quality, striking a balance between heritage and modern, stretching as much performance as Ford could from an affordable sport coup. Once this car shows up in dealer...
It is because they are still fine tuning the details and it is not yet in production. They don't know the exact weight therefor they don't know the exact weight distribution.
I think whether Ford eliminates the n/a v6 will depend on the difference in price to the eb4 and sales numbers for the v6. When you consider that it gets about the same hp as the first high performance v8 Shelby, that's pretty impressive. Many Mustang buyers are just interested in a sporty car...
Is the S550 retro? Of course it is. Is it modern? Does it look great? You bet it does. Anyone who looks at the back end can see the first generation influence. It isn't retro like the current Challenger, though, which looks almost identical to the 1970. Dodge didn't use any imagination designing...
Judging from the comparison at the beginning of the thread and the new handling capabilities of the S550 platform, the M4 is definitely not twice the car of the Mustang - $30 / $60g. Kudos to Ford.
A couple reasons are most of the rest of the world pays exorbitant gas prices and huge taxes on certain engines, so the vast majority of cars sold in those countries will be eco4's.
Their other ecoboost 4's are designated ST. "One Ford" theme is going for consistency, so I think the Mustang will be the same. Since the base v6 was not improved for next year, either they want to maintain a big difference in horsepower or they will eventually phase it out of the line-up...
