Great topic! I'm thinking of doing the VMP OE drag package with the 81mm IC brick, TB, 2.75" pulley and tune. I already have the JLT intake, and also have no access to E85. Not looking to go crazy as our Arizona 91 octane is awful.
What are your fuel trims doing at WOT with the meth spraying? Mine was typically 8-11%, so around .92-089 lambda. That seems like quite a bit of nozzle if you're only seeing 2-3% correction.
Try removing the meth nozzles completely from the system and test again. Lund told me originally that the issue was timing the ECU commands on startup on the 18+ cars can be an issue. He said their whipple black 2018 does the same thing but I never really believed them. They sent me several...
I had the exact same issue. Same setup, literally. Mine was a 2018 GT, P1X with dual nozzle Alky kit. It would pop, stumble and sometimes stall on hot starts only. Cold starts were perfect. I ended up putting a solenoid just before the T fitting to the nozzles and solved it. Sorry I just...
Great video. I'm in Arizona and heard that the Function Factory GT500 has had a transmission replacement already? Not sure if it's related to overheating issues, or may not be true at all. However disappointing to hear these transmissions are an issue for track duty in higher temps.
I was running a 12gph and an 8gph. In fact, I had the gain maxed out on my Alky system so it would have for sure tolerated more. Just never did it because I was not getting any knock. Oh, and I was running 60/40 meth/water ratio.
This! Exactly what brianbr said. Different supercharger, but I did the identical thing on my 2018 procharged GT. Fueling was left alone and let the wide band O2's correct, however the additional octane and cooling allowed more timing. Unless you go overboard, meth injection is a fantastic...
Confirmed. Just received my filter and no O-rings.
The part number for the O-ring kit is: FT4Z-6840-B and appears to be available from Tasca for under $8.
I only bring it up because VMP originally claimed their now discontinued smaller 68mm core was better suited to low or near stock boost levels due to pressure drop with the 81mm core.
Yep, Ive heard all of these sounds. Having had Tremec manual transmissions in past cars for years, these sounds are quite familiar. These noises are most noticeable when lugging around parking lots, etc. I often chuckle at the similarity to the old TKO boxes.
Obviously I don't get it! wow man.
This sounds like a scenario where having a competent tuner is essential. Never experienced this on any of my previous forced induction cars, all of which have had Alky systems. Ive been using these systems since 2007, so I must be the luckiest guy alive!
100% correct. The Alky system allowed me to run up to 19 deg timing cap on shitty AZ 91 octane. The tune did not remove any fuel, but just let the wide bands do their job and remove fuel. Ran this setup for years even in the AZ Summers without issue. It simply worked and never missed a beat...
