In the NY reveal, David Pericak said "most Mustangs" will have the toggle switches. Don't know what that means, but its obvious a base won't.
It's a good thing they didn't send Jay the loaded car because he commented about how he liked the non-electric seat.
Can someone explain why they crush the prototypes? They just got over talking about how great it was that the Mustang 1 was saved and then talk about crushing these.
Maybe a future option? The Mustang Hardtop. It would have the same bracing as a Convertible with no B-pillar. Sure, it may not be as rigid, but it wouldn't be meant for the racing crowd. I'd buy one. Nothing beats that look.
Painted or not, there's no secret what car this was. The point of the camo (both vinyl and b&w design) it to keep details of the design hidden. The b&w design makes it difficult for cameras to see the detail.
The numbers are only on the covers so they know which car is underneath. There are...
This looks like the same track day from the spy shots. So, I have to bring it up again... No conspiracy, just curiosity. Surely there's someone on here that knows the answer.
If they were so concerned about disguising the car, why would they spray paint the front of it black, defeating...
I don't think they were trying to hide the fact that it was a Mustang. It was pretty obvious what it was.
Wasn't the Pony emblem redesigned for the '15? That's probably the reason they were hiding it.
From listening to the designers, it was about "getting the stance" right. It sounded like they had to re-engineer things to accommodate it, so it may have started there.
From an engineering stand point, I would say all of the above reasons...
Yes, it seems like a long way off till they roll off the line, but I'm sure its just a timing thing with the auction. It's do it now, or miss the chance.
The problem with nameplates is that once you attach meaning to them, you are stuck. (ST=Hot Hatch, GT=V8, SRT=Dodge, SVO=Ugly, Perceived Gutless Turbo I4 Failure (chill out, just an example)).
I don't like the "SV" moniker because it's not a "Special Vehicle". Someday, it will be the base...
Someone who wants the coolness of a Mustang and just buying a base at the cheapest price works for them. There are lots of people that won't care about $/performance ratio... Just $.
