  1. How Much Weight in the Trunk for Snow Driving?

Sorry, if you live in WI, you should already know you can get pounded with snow (if you didn't before, you should know now). I believe it was 1999 (jan 1 or 2) you all got hit by a huge storm. I had to drive through that storm from Green Bay all the way down to the WI/IL border in a 4wd SUV...
  2. How Much Weight in the Trunk for Snow Driving?

I don't have the new Mustang, so I can't comment on how much weight, but for my RWD cars, I do usually put a bag of oil-dry (kitty litter without perfumes, clumping agents, etc) in the trunk, or a sealable container of the basic kitty litter. I also put in a container of snow/ice melter (also in...
  3. Jacking up the rear of the Car (Floor Jack)

Most floor jacks specifically say to NOT use them to hold the car up. Buying 3 more floor jacks (tongue in cheek or not) is not the answer. Jackstands are. However, it is starting to look like Ford wants us to all put lifts in our garages...or more appropriately, take it to them for all...
  4. Is SVT about to be rebranded? Major announcements set for Detroit

I hope it's not FPV (ford performance vehicles) as that is the common abbreviation of a serious disease for cats. I also hope it's not 999 as that just does not sound right. I also suspect that they don't use the name Ford Racing Team (FRT)...non-Ford (and a few Ford) fans would have a field...
  5. "GT's" Magnetic PP GT Surprise Delivery!!!

GT, I am glad you were able to walk away from this, but I am sorry about your car. I hope everything works out for you in terms of insurance/legal issues and that you don't have any long term medical issues associated with your crash. I am just glad your car held up as well as it did. Looks...
  6. how much is your insurance ?

Comparing insurance quotes without the specific terms (for example, exactly how much coverage ....100/300, 300/500, what kind of riders, etc) means that you can not compare what you get to what someone here says they get. All that said, good luck to everyone here on getting a good policy and a...

  10. Lincoln Mustang S550?

The Mark was a fairly good personal couple and the LS was a decent family sedan. I would have bought an LS in 2004 but the AC could not keep up on the one I did the extended test drive on (100 miles or so), and my back gave me problems (residual from the t-bird accident referenced above) when...
  11. Lincoln Mustang S550?

Former T-bird owner here (mine was killed when a cargo van rear ended it) and I completely agree. Give us an alternative to BMW/Lexus/Merc/Audi. I drove the SHO and MKS when I was shopping for my 550 (the year before the SS came out) but I was not impressed. It was too FWD biased and I had...
  12. Rain Sensing Wipers

umm, at least in the 2006 and 2013's,(and since it's the same system, don't know why they would have changed for 2007) you have to actively turn the rain sensing wipers on every time you start the car. That means that you had them on earlier due to rain and never turned it off. In reality...
  13. Lincoln Mustang S550?

Stretch the S550 platform, put another set of doors on it, leave it a four seater, adjust the roof line a tad, and you have a competitor for the 6 series grand coupe....call it a Mark IX or a "super coupe" for homage to the mark series or thunderbird. Offer the 5.0 and a V-6 EB as engine choices...
  14. Going to have to cancel my order :( Update w/ s197 pics

Beautiful car and a great deal. 3k miles and 10k+ off the MSRP...I think a lot of people would make that deal over a '15. Enjoy it. Any mods planned?
  15. So is Ford going to make the press buy their own cars to test?

Honestly, with all the push that Ford is giving to the EB, I would expect that to be the first car reviewed. Yes, the GT may come the next month (or maybe as an exclusive "first drive" the same month as the EB, but I don't expect magazines being given the green light for fully instrumented...
  16. "Referred" here by Dave Pericak

Honestly, they are not doing anything much different than when they launched the 2011 SuperDuty. I was on a lot of sites back then hunting for information as I was needing a new truck (I was one of those suffering the 2001 Yukon brake line issues...Piece of junk) and fan based websites were one...
  17. Flat Rock Assembly Plant Trip Report

Thank you, great pictures and write up. You mentioned that you tried the tranny out....Did you check to see how much effort it took to depress the clutch? (knee issues here) Was it similar to the 14's, or did it require more/less effort?
  18. 2016 SVT Automatic?

An auto would be fantastic. I know a lot of purests would say it mean you are disconnected from the car, but many people don't feel that way (or most cars would be offered with a manual). There should always be a manual option, but an 8 speed with a fast shift is fun to drive too.
  19. Hoping for AWD in the future

Hey there, long time lurker, first time poster… Been looking at this thread and I see a lot of people talking about heritage, weight, complexity, cost, platform sharing potential, and performance. I agree that all of these things have at least some bearing on the discussion at hand (should...
