  1. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Yes, the heads had or have an indentation for the injectors... but Ford engineers gave a very weak explanation at the time why they didn't include it - and reality was that it was purely cost considerations. I'm all for VVL... I have an Infiniti with VVL (and a supercharger) and it's a airflow...
  2. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Yes, Mustang has done well in UK... but what are the total numbers there, how much is pent-up demand (having been so difficult to obtain for 30 years)? It will be important to watch the numbers there on a monthly basis over years to answer this one. Same for Australia. That's what determines the...
  3. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Yes it will, and that is the saving grace for GM's V-8 family, along with cylinder shut-off and cam phasing. That's the only way it will continue forward. The reality of the Coyote is that it is just an evolution of the modular family (which dates back to late eighties and was first seen...
  4. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Drive it against the previous gen and you'll see a surprising difference. I was very surprised and I already knew all about the Alpha platform and had driven variations of the ATS and CTS. Alpha-based Camaro is a huge improvement over the zeta-based previous gen. The 1LE demonstrates that...
  5. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Let's hope that the S650 is not just another evolution of the platform that goes back to the late nineties. But it likely will be. The DEW98 was a world-class platform... but was then dumbed down into the S197... loosing all the good suspension bits. And then upgraded into the S550 with better...
  6. My prediction for the engine

What's the problem with Direct Injection? This is a technology that has it ALL: power, torque, emissions, mileage, drivability - everything. Look what it did for the GM 6.2 - a huge increase in HP and torque. And the tuners over there are taking that engine *way* up - either naturally aspirated...
  7. Steering rack speed

No you can't, there is no such part on the Mustang or Focus. What you are talking about is a steering system for a future Ford, unannounced, and it's not on the 2015 Mustang. The 2014 and 2015 Mustang use the same mechanical gear steering rack; the electric motor is only an assist. Short of...
  8. Steering rack speed

Exactly... Ford of Europe has their dynamic tuning act together in a way that Team Mustang and SVT have never had. Team Mustang should have had their European team do the steering. I was comparing my Boss and ST this morning and wondering what the heck the Dearborn people were thinking... what...
  9. Steering rack speed

You didn't read the full thread... that's feel, not ratio. It has nothing to do at all with aggressiveness.
  10. Steering rack speed

No, the ST is not getting this in the refresh coming up. And it's not a variable ratio rack, it's a variable ratio actuator behind the steering wheel. And the Euro and North American ST versions are identical, except for minor little details such as the door guards, folding mirrors...
  11. Side-Exit Exhaust - A la Boss 302

I've had mine dyno'd with and without... it makes no difference. It's pointless except to make some noise. Ford shouldn't have bothered. To do it, you'd need to remove the center resonator. And then that'd be the first crapped out 2015. A better choice would be to wait for the aftermarket to...
  12. Underside Photos from Mustang Alley

It isn't any more or less flat because it's just an earlier evolution of the same thing. Excepting the pointless side exhaust.
  13. 5.0 Diff Cover is Cooler Ready

That cover isn't anything specific to an external cooler. The original mule that showed us the IRS for first time had a finned cover on it similar to the B302. That cover has since disappeared for cost reasons. You can expect it back later on for the special model (GT350,SVT/whatever). For...
  14. Underside Photos from Mustang Alley

Very interesting... I'd been under several of the new GTs at the press events, but not yet a convertible. That bolt-on brace and crossmember (convertible only) explains the kink in the exhaust system that is so apparent on the hardtop models. Otherwise the bends are good and the radices are...
  15. Ceramic concerns

It looks great.. but is terrible to live with in every way. I had the white leather interior in my anniversary edition Atenza (MS6 here). You couldn't keep the leather clean, it picked up every color and any and all dirt. No matter how much cleaner and protectant you put on it, it's just impossible.
  16. Are 18s too small for the S550?

Sure, on your subie. But the Mustang is far larger and heavier and uses taller tires. Do you really want to hobble it with shorter tires?
  17. Dealer tries to blow up customer's Mustang

Here's the dealer you don't want.. the tech deliberately tried to blow up the customer's engine on a test drive. But the customer had a dash cam, which recorded the entire thing. Full video in the link: http://www.carscoops.com/2014/08/mustang-owner-allegedly-records-ford.html
  18. Just for Kicks! HREs on the S550

Absolutely... but more importantly who put the Brembos on the back? You can see a separate parking brake. Somebody must have a kit on the way. And what will they do about brake proportioning? The GT350/whatever has an integral parking brake.. not a separate one. Converting to that is an...
  19. Shorty vs. Long Tube Headers

It's a resonator that Ford patented well over a year ago.
  20. Smallest wheel to fit over PP's massive brakes?

That was then, this is now. The car doesn't need shorter wheels on track. This isn't the Continental series with it's ridiculous/legacy restrictions. Shorter wheels will hurt stability and brake cooling. Look around more diligently and you'll discover a lot of choices for this car in 19" sizes...
