I have been running 305/325 Cup 2's for several years. 14 track days, 5 mil. Tread remaining. Love them in the rain after getting them hot, starting at 34# cold.
Not all drivers are the same, nor cars, nor tires. 40 years + on the track, 13 as pro owner/driver. I run Cup 2's at 125mph in standing water AFTER getting them hot. Swear by them, my compatriots swear at me. LOL. Learn to get the tire HOT. Alignment critical, tire pressure critical. I've even...
Damn, Kevin you have become quite good. One suggestion though...right foot is either on the floor on the throttle or hard on the brake! NO coasting. Enjoy yourself friend. LOL
Surprisingly, yes I am. 5mil across the width of the tire with 12 track days. Saving my money for a new set next year. Loved hearing how you enjoyed VIR and other tracks. Keep the shining side up.
What size tires and tire pressure at the time they were sliding. How much roll over on the sides. I've got 14days on my Cup 2's and still have 5/32" across the tire width, and I push the car to limits often.
We went from the 15' GT to the 17' GT350. Miss the torque but love the top end and the song the car produces. Easy for every day use in traffic (Seattle) and cruising.
We have a 17 Raptor in Magnetic to match our 17 GT350 Magnetic and love it. Changed out the tires first thing to Geolander's. Rides better and terrific mileage. Better traction in the rain. Wouldn't change a thing!
Welcome to the fun club. Good way to shake out any bugs is to drive the car. Bring it out to our Mustang track day, Mustangs Northwest and meet a bunch of GT350 drivers. The only thing I would recommend related to what you propose to do is the coil covers. Don't! Remove any engine covers, etc...
I run the
MPSC2'S from spring till fall. Dry or wet. I actually love them in the wet. They need to come up to temperature and I add 2 pound to my normal start pressure, but they do hook up quite well.
