Probably. I mean Yamaha has been crap for some time now. And even having the arguably best rider for years now getting paid the same or close to the top wasn't motivated to take advantage of that and build a decent bike. Maybe Yamaha is just better at blackmailing riders. Why else the hell would Quartararo stay there? I get the money but damn, why not have both?
Maybe Yamaha is about to make a breakthru. Their new V4 isn't world class out of the gate but everyone else has had years to tweak.
Historically MotoGP riders are much better at making bad choices as F1 drivers. Some is historically younger when hired and most probably not schooled for anything but track results. Plus you have to be borderline certifiable to want a job where you are guaranteed to break bones every year and subject to being uncompetitive for months or years (looking at you Marc) while recovering.
I sure hope Yamaha gets their act together. They have development advantages due to poor performance. I'd like to see Ogura succeed and Razgatlıoğlu as well. Not to mention I ran out my motorcycling years on a series of Yamahas.
Next year is a whole new era of engine rules and not a few other areas, much like F1 this year. Any brand has a chance to hit a home run.
