Right. It's an automatic transmission. DCT, not a slushbox. There's nothing wrong with it being an automatic, so no reason for people to be defensive about it. DCTs are superior to manuals for shifting speed.

This is actually not accurate. A DCT is an AUTOMATED manual transmission. It does not require a clutch pedal. The same is a sequential transmission; it is a manual transmission where the gears change, moving the shift up or down; you do not need a clutch. This is the same as a PDK, or the one BMW uses.

Yes the DCT is an UPGRADE from a traditional manual transmission. Peoples FEELS might like the manual but it is a DOWNGRADE in performance. I like my manual quite a bit, but im adult enough to admit the DCT is superior for performance.

Each to their own and I will remain with my definition of what constitutes a DCT transmission which operates as an automatic transmission but is neither a manual or automatic transmission.

DCT equal superior shift speeds, up or down, better for the drag strip and road courses too. Performance - superior, that’s an objective category. Easy call.

For those that want the involvement of moving a gear lever in coordination with pressing a clutch pedal while enjoying the tactile sensation of a shift knob, well, it’s frankly a bit boring. The subjective category is not an easy call, it’s a personal one.

50/50 it’s an upgrade/not an upgrade.

Reading comprehension much? I also PREFER the manual, however I am adult enough to admit the DCT is an upgrade over the manual when it comes to overall performance. Not sure how you missed this...

easy…because you FEEL like qualifying your likes by adding the word PERFORMANCE. That word is not in the original question, so maybe it’s you that needs the comprehension

Dang its worse than I thought. This has literally been the argument through this whole thread... weather we are basing this on Performance metrics(which makes the most sense as to what an upgrade is) or weather its just if you like it a lot or something. Please catch up...

Aside from performance have you ever experienced the DCT in a 3rd Gen GT500 when down shifting in comparison to the PDK transmission?

Like day and night with the DCT often sounding and feeling clunky on downshifts in comparison to the smooth, silky and quiet PDK.

I have driven a GT500 twice, tons of fun and then transmission felt like lightning compared to my 6R80 2017 GT I owned at the time. Never driven a PDK.
