The thing about it is then it will only be worth $23k.
Lol. So a $70k GT500 gets powned by a $20 k beater mod car..?
Sweet!

yaaa.. Will be very interesting to see how many GT500 actually get tracked. My Whippled 15 was more that 650rwhp on the first canned tune and likely 670 by the 4th revision. Put Ecoboost fenders and trunk on it and damn was that fun. It did get plenty of mods for track use so ya gotta enjoy the challenge to do that instead of just buying a GT350 or GT500.

Its kinda cool that either route can get you to the front of the pack.

If Chevy ever wants to add more power etc the current Zl1 1LE, and already close to 4k lbs, what you think that would weigh? The same? Nooo everything needs to be compensated for the extra hp! Let’s just say they up it to 710hp...no way in hell they continue to use the current cooling system, drivetrain components etc.

They won't need to add 300+ lbs in cooling and driveline robustness for 60 hp, that I can guarantee you. It'd be in the 30-50 lb range.

Very basic :
$8,395.00 Hellion Twin Turbo - Tuner Kit
$1,250.00 Ford Performance Track Handling Pack
$9,645
You're gonna need a ton more than that to beat a GT500 on track.
If you do all new parts:
$4500 in brakes, spindles arms (GT350 kit)
$3500 on good quality motorsports coilovers
$2800 on wheels and tires
$1800 on a 3.73 torsen diff
$1000 on diff cooling
~$1000 on additional oil cooling
$600 on an upgraded radiator
~$1000 on front splitter (actually functional) and rear wing
And the list goes on. This is assuming you install everything, too.
Someone else talked about drive shaft as well. Even drive axles are going to fail if you put that much power through them and upgrade to wider, sticky tires. You're probably going to want better seats than the base GT comes with. Try driving quickly around a road course with base seats and 3 point harnesses. Just working to hold yourself in position behind the wheel will slow you down a lot.

And good luck with ABS and Advancetrac type of controls for taking care of the better braking, stickier tires, extra power, etc. That is one area where Ford has done a lot of work on the GT500 and I don't care what you say, almost no one will be able to equal the software side of what Ford does with a new car to integrate all the systems. Magneride has a lot of capability to integrate with all the other systems, including the DCT shifting. All these systems working together are just stupid complicated.

Modern cars are really well engineered. It's not easy to better them with a few mods like it used to be in the 80s. I used to really be into modifying cars, but in the end it can be more expensive than just buying what you want in the first place. My 1970 Mustang convertible can use some modifications and it will even be better and possibly more desirable with mods, but a new base GT is better just driven and accepted for what it is. A really good car that's never going to be quite as good as a GT500.

Agreed 100%. I'm just listing off the easy stuff :)

I never said adding 300 did I? I said getting it at or a bit over 4k lbs is a certain thing. And what is funny is this “4225lb gt500” does better times than a ‘19 crapmaro

Your previous post implied that at comparable power to the GT500, the ZL1 1LE would be similar weight. I would strongly disagree and my point was that it'd still be sub 4000. This just means that a even higher power Camaro will be easier on equipment, faster on tight courses and will probably have better potential laptimes on most courses. Can't fight physics.

Yes, I do expect the GT500 to best the current ZL1 1LE on the road course. It will be stonkingly quick. It's just a pig while doing so. For a $90k Mustang (carbon pack) I'd expect a sub 4000 lb car. If that isn't true, it's a shame.

And that’s just it, all we have is the 1 weight and it appears to imply to the base which makes sense as most of us buyers, that is what we can get. I do agree it is frustrating and disappointing it is listed at that weight, I was hoping for 4100lb max on a base loaded like mine on order, and a cftp coming in at 3950ish.. And also make a similar option as the 350R with no radio etc to help even more.

The real question is, if I dump $10K worth of go fast and lighten parts into my $33K, 3570 lb 2017 BASE GT, how much faster will I be than the GT500?
Base GTs don't weigh 3,570lbs full of fuel. These guys weighed a 2015 Base GT at 3,595lbs empty, and 13lbs of what they call "trunk junk" removed. That would be 3,698lbs full of fuel (6lbs x 15 gallons) and the 13lbs of floor mats, trunk mats, and tire inflation kit. You can't compare an empty car with basic components removed to a true "curb weight" car.

The LT5 weight is only 45'ish more lbs than the LT4. So a little more for the fluids, and larger radiator. So the ZL1 would not weigh a lot more. Maybe bigger brakes, stiffer spring rates, larger sway bar., etc

I would assume Shipping weight includes the pallet and packaging. I'd bet the LT5 is not more than 20lbs heavier than the LT4.
