Hi all,

Just recently picked up a 2019 GT350, but noticed something odd about the transmission that I wanted to run by you guys to see if it was normal/common. So on my drive home from the dealer, I noticed that when I lift off the throttle (most noticeable in 6th gear), I get this slight clunk/thud. It doesn't always happen but is usually repeatable at about 2k rpm. Example: cruising in 6th at 2100 rpm with foot on steady throttle, but when I lift off the accelerator completely, it makes this sort of thud sensation. Passengers have noticed this as well. Sorry if this has been posted about, but I've been browsing Google and the forums and haven't seen anything.

Thanks!

It’s the LSD operating. Normal. Happens under light throttle when cruising.

I haven't noticed this or maybe it's so subtle that I haven't felt it in the past 3 1/2 years. Is yours very noticeable? Next trip out I'll keep an eye out for it.

I think it is normal (and very subtle at the same time). My GT350 did the same.

You drive in 6th gear? Who does that? Kidding of course, but that’s odd for sure. I don’t think I ever heard that or experienced that symptom the few times I do use 6th gear. I do know that it will lug at 50, maybe even 60 in 6th gear. Good luck.

I think I know what you’re talking about. I sometimes hear a slight thud when putting it into gear...like a delayed engagement. I also hear a slight thud when cruising around and I either lift off throttle or pick up speed. I believe this is a built in slight drive line slack.

Thanks for the reply guys. I was just wondering if it's normal or not. But it's not just 6th, I noticed it in 5th a couple times as well. If it's normal as you guys say, then no worries haha.

@DCShelby, I didn't know this was LSD operating, my friend has a LSD equipped GT that I never noticed doing this when driving his. Unless they are different brands? I'm kind of new to the mustang group.

Yep, it's normal. My GT500 had it much worse, with the odd (very very tall ) 6th gear on that car too, to avoid gas guzzler tax.
