All of this. But OP, unless you have a specific reason to switch, I wouldn't bother. Straying away from the manual for "peace of mind" frankly isn't a good one in my opinion. If you're just DD'ing the car and not really pushing it, just use what the manual calls for.
Mine is a DD and I wind it out daily. I run 5W-30 for the little extra protection. I'm still under the impression they switched to 5W-20 because of CAFE reasons...

I've run 5W-30 in mine from the first change on. No problems.

CAFE was the reason everyone started running 5W-20, there's documentation out there if you want to search for it. I had a 2012 Jeep that specified 5W-30, which was replaced by a essentially identical 2013 that specified 5W-20 - there were no differences between the engines other than oil spec.

The track use 5w30 just showed up in the 2018 manual. However, the austrailian version said 5w30 since 2015 for normal use.
We know. Noone knows for sure if Ford maybe having australian engine version with special tolerances.

“Tolerances” or “clearances”? Either way, highly unlikely.

Actually part of this is correct. As well as lower friction for the high revving nature of the car. This started even way back with the first Coyote. As for actual cushioning and protection, oil is still a technology and this isn't 1983 anymore...thank god.

Sorry, no. Ford circa 2002 (decade before coyote) tsb specifies 5w20 for almost everything, even back-spec’ing all the way to 1991 in some cases. The tsb clearly says it is to improve fuel economy.

If it were for lower friction in the high revving engine, why the 5w50 in the higher revving gt350?

Higher heat but okay, stand corrected.

No issues OP...I had a small hint of the BBQ tick early on, even before its first oil change. Decided to switch to 30w...never heard the noise again.

2015 base GTPP traded in 8/31 with 16203 on the odometer.

I've done this for about +2,000 miles now in a engine that's at 44,000+ miles that used 5W20 before. So far there's no problems or failures (KNOCK ON WOOD) and there's no noise difference other than normal.

I'm wondering myself about anyone who has done this with more mileage or months in their engine.

I'm also a 5.0 2015.

Which oil brand thanks?

Fwiw, if you want extra protection from a 5w30 (or 0w30), consider one that carries the acea a3/b4 rating. This guarantees better protection in regions where failures occur, and also has minimum anti-wear additive limits. A3/b4 are considered high performance oils.

Wally World oil...Super Tech full synthetic.

I use it on all my cars...since 2004. Started using it on my 03 ROUSH S3.

Well, except on the GT350, they don't make 50w oil unfortunately.
