The just released Australian sales brochure lists the 5.0 fuel type as 91 to 98 RON. I have not checked the manual yet but how much difference will/should I notice if I went for one of the lower types. I usually run BP fuel and they are expensive as is.

I only use 98.

Yes, it's more expensive - but you get more km's to the tank.

98 and 98 only.
As you know, pre MY18 cars were 98 only but now Ford have given a range of 91 to 98. Drew says there is better fuel efficiency with the 98. That's a valid benefit. Does 98 give markedly better power or is there another reason to use it.

The power figure would be quoted on the 98 ron. Using 91, the ECU would adjust to suit and would make less power and increase consumption.

don't forget these cars run 11:1 compression and the 18's are 12:1
you wont be running them on 91 for too long, timing can only be retarded so far

Your car is going to pull the living crap out of the timing on 91. This will be most evident at the bottom end (an area where the Coyote already struggles badly enough).
If you want it to GO, just run 98 and cal it a day.
You pay to play basically.

Thanks Burkey. It's odd that Ford have introduced the 91 to 98 to the promotional material for the 18 GT. Under the petrol fill door it only says that it is suitable for E10 and with no mention of any other octanes.
I was going to use 98 anyway but was wondering why the change in recommendations from Ford.

The 2016 has a sticker on the petrol filler cap that mentions something like suitable for Ethanol 10, which is usually 94 octane here in Sydney.

I don't use it though - I only use 98 from BP or Caltex. I don't think I would like to use E10 in it.
