So right now my current setup is a Paxton 3.80 on 93 octane (id100s) with a vortech bap. I made 610 504. In march i'm getting opgs/cs done. At the same time I was thinking about having the 3.6 pulley put on and e85. My question is without a fuel system can I even run e85? Or If I wanted to max out on 93 octane would the 3.6 pulley get me to 680-700? Another concern, I have a stock MT82 and clutch. Should I be swapping out my clutch? This is not a track car just my daily.

Back to e85 is it the power level you get to that makes it dangerous without a fuel system? Lets say I do e85 how my car sits now stock pulley, bap, etc.. How much power would I pick up?

I have a 3.6 pulley with no cats on 93 octane and made 653 whp. I have the stock clutch and drive on 305/35/20 n555r mostly do 45-125 pulls for about 10k miles. No slipping.. I do have a rxt clutch waiting to be installed when this clutch lets go. I have a race tune also that feels a lot faster but have not dynoed it yet.

Everything I've ever read says to upgrade fuel system to run E85. I have the Fore Level 1 from Beefcake. Car made 680 on 93 and 747 on E85 with 3.6" pulley. My stock clutch came out at around 6K miles and didn't show much wear (over 2K miles at 620whp). The RXT is a nice upgrade, though. You will hear some chatter from it.

More interested in if the power level is why 93 is a bad idea with higher hp numbers

Its because when you are pushing for more (all us FI guys do it) you are on the edge. With one bad tank of 93 you can take out a motor. Besides the extra cooling properties that E85 gives you the octane level makes it MUCH more safe.

Another question... is it the same effect WITH a fuel system running 93?

The reason u need a fuel system is because e85 burns alo t more then 93,so no having a fuel system annd still using 93 is not going to gain u any hp.

But will it keep from starving the engine?

Right size injectors with a BAP is all you really need for 93....but yes a fuel system would be extra insurance and already for the E85 switch.

With the S/C, you'll need a fuel system if you're going to run E85. The BAP can only handle increase fuel for 93. Swap out the clutch if you have slipping issues. DO NOT buy the RXT, unless you want to buy a new MT82. Buy the RST and enjoy no slipping and not breaking the transmission.

I’ve been running a Paxton with 3.6 pulley for 18k Miles. Car has 23k miles. Car made 663 on 91oct. Probably have 35-40 passes at the track and over 300 40-50mph pulls. The clutch working like a champ. I know it’ll go boom anytime now. But trust me I’ve been revving to 7700 rpm since the first day I got the Paxton and this clutch held like a champ. I bought the sai li fuel system about 7 months ago and maybe I’ll install it next month to use with e85. Thinking on going with 3.48 pulley I’m not sure yet.
Ps. I got cg and opg
