True enough. Now that my car has ticked over 2000 kms, I notice that it is much more likely to kick down into first anyway without using paddles. I would not be surprised if the ECU was designed to limit these kick downs into first, until sufficient kms were done. Not unreasonable really.......

It does it when in drive either in normal or in sport plus mode and not when using paddles. My 2016 model in the same circumstances would always kick down to 1st but my 2018 only kicks down to 2nd Using the paddles overrides the problem but I should not have to do that......
