Ok, so how do you think that you drive a car that has a Hewland or Jerico tranny where you can’t use the clutch?
You learn to match the speed and engine rpm’s to downshift when braking at the same time
Maybe i never felt the need to learn/do h&t because i raced for so many years on straight...
“Fast and smooth driver” as many race win and fastest laps will attest..
A couple of my race cars
Have you ever raced a car with a straight gears box where you can’t use the clutch for down or up shift?
You learn pretty fast to be smooth
And if you’re wondering why the clutch can’t be used it’s...
You don’t “dump “ the clutch
The clutch is not an off/on switch
No different that when you start from a dead stop
As a matter of fact when i take a passenger for some hot laps, they can’t even feel when i downshift
Got my national scca license back in 93, so i know a couple of things about...
Been racing for over 30 years and never did it
Some of my race cars had straight gears box, Hewland, Jericho, etc, for which you never use the clutch and for my other cars such as my present track car, 17pp, i just use the clutch
Never understood why people are so enamored with h&t
Maybe back...
I bet you it’s the pads. I have Cobalt xr1 on the front of my track car (17pp) and i have to recalibrate my foot on the street driving to and from the track. Almost scary on the street
Any braking system, including single floating caliper, that can trigger the abs, would have done the same thing
What performance brakes, such as what you have, do, is to offer repeated, high speed, braking without fading
Obviously not what happened there and a lot of misconceptions about braking...
Not clear what you’re trying to accomplish…
Look only or better handling ?
If you keep the oem wheels, you’re are stuck with the tire sizes that you’re using now
A few millimeters wider track is not going to make a noticeable improvement in handling
So if it’s look only, go for whatever you like
As many have said, it all depends on on how fast you are but here are a few brake “rules”
Do not use the same compound front and rear . Front need to be more aggressive
There is a difference between brake fade and overheating the brake fluid
Pads are rated by their optimal temperature range
If...
You must not have read (correctly) the proposal
It stafe that replacement tires must match the factory/oem rolling resistance
We can all have opinions, but at the minimum let’s use facts as the basis
People have a lot of misconceptions about California, especially in regards to cars
For example you have quite a few counties that do NOT require any type of smog/emissions testing
I live in one of those, Tuolumne county
So bottom lines counties that do not have smog issues, do not require...
You guys are funny, it’s nothing more than a proposal that has zero chance of becoming law…. But obviously California bashers always jump on those type of stories to vent their frustration of not living in such a great state …
I love California,, 5 road racing tracks, best weather in the usa...
