Well the wife and I went away this weekend and we rented a Mustang GT. Part of this was to get her on board and comfortable with the next step - ordering one.

So Hertz rented me a really cool car. A 2018 Mustang GT Premium, PP1, Recaro’s and 998 miles on it.

So a few things are the first full day of driving.

The wife hates the recaro’s, her issue is it is too hard to raise the seat (she like 5 Foot) and the passenger seat wont raise at all and she stares at the dash. We wouldnt get recaro’s anyway.

From my perspective:

1. Really like the PP1 but driving around San Diego here I dont know if the PP1 is really what I want in a DD, Im really torn on this. So the PP1 debates starts once again here....LOL

- NOTE: I plan to DD this car, any day the sun is out which is over 300 days a year in Denver. I did drive a non-PP1 a month ago but cant remember well enough to know how decent the stock GT suspension is.

2. I dont know if Iike the PP1 Spoiler - it doesnt block my view but jsut not sure about it - Does it have any real functionality?

3. If I get PP1 then Mag-Ride is a must andIM creeping into 52K territory, I can afford it but as I get older Im also thinking retirement, soon.

4. I drive a 2008 Tundra - perspective - so the Apple Apps I really dig in this car.

5. Shaker or no Shaker? I think the stock premium stereo is pretty decent, Im no audiophile for sure.

6. When I order I will get the Nanny Package for certain.

7. I really like Orange Fury but this Silver is so nice looking, has a bad ass and classy look all together and we all know Silver and White are the easier car care colors - think Im going Silver.

8. I really like the A10, but there is no doubt it takes some getting used to and depending what mode the car is in changes it significantly - in track mode the wife didnt like the car LOL - she said she felt like a rag doll. I will get the A10 because I sit in traffic.

Anyway I have a few things to think about.

I've been shopping around myself, I personally dont mind the fact the recaros are full manual adjustment, but wish they had a heated/cooled option for them. But in regards to color, Im more of a plain white car kinda guy (with a couple exceptions) but I went and looked at a pretty loaded GT premium pp1 in thousand oaks that happened to be in Ingot Silver and good lord that silver looks amazing in the sun!

Mine came with the blackout, and I thought I would like it, but nope. Waste of a grand to me. If I could trade out my trunk lid with someone that had no spoiler, I would do it in a New York second. The only thing I do like is the grill and 5.0 emblem. Would rather have chrome 18" rims too!:D

But the big question is how do you like the handling of the car since it doesn’t have the pp1

The first car I test drove had the PP1. I had a different job then, and it involved driving sometimes 600 miles for work. I knew that the PP would be bad for a few reasons:Ride, mileage, noise (tire) etc. I did not need such a stiff ride. So the base GT suspension is a great fit for me. Took another job, and the commute is still 129 miles each way. Very glad I do not have the PP. I really consider the PP for a track car, not a daily warrior (unless you are young!).

I'm sure there are many here who would say get the PP. I'm not one of them.

Those are sweet cars, my first was a used 1980 turbo 4, then a new 87! then in late 91 got a 86 comp. prep. SVO, then the wife got a 17 last year, and my first new one since 87 is on order....

I personally love my 18. At first I wasn't sure I would like the spoiler (cause I thought it would block my view. But it doesn't. My mom likes that the passenger seat raises cause she's not staring at the dash. And she can see the road. Which she can't do in my 13. She ends up staring at the dash the whole time.

Nice looking rental. I have a 15GT Premium with the Performance Pack and Recaro's. I drove a non-PP car and it felt disconnected from the road (floaty) compared to the PP car. Unless your road's in LA are a hell of a lot worse than mine in Northern Cali, get the PP with Magnaride. All the other stuff that comes with the PP make it worth it IMO. And I'm not a young guy - I'm 52. I'm pretty sure you can order it with a spoiler delete option. And yes, the Recaro's are a pa*-in for a sort driver, or passenger. Good luck with it!
