borla atak cat-back or borla s-type cat-back

You really need to listen to them in person. You tube video comparisons reveal that the ATAK is slightly higher pitched (to my ears) and I prefer the S-Type cat back but I personally will not purchase an exhaust until I have heard them in the flesh otherwise I am sure I will regret the purchase.

youtube videos really don't convey the deeper tones of an exhaust.

That being said our opportunity to hear these in person is going to be severely limited, and someone has to be the first...

Good advice.

Exhausts on a stationary car sound different to when it's under genuine load going down the road; and it's hard to gauge interior sound from the outside

You also get no idea of volume from YouTube.

1. It's louder than the s-type
2. It's cheaper than the s-type
3. Being louder than the s-type it also doesn't have drone
4. The name atak sounds cooler

Its really up to what you want.

The volume of the Atak, is more than likely, going to attract lots of legal (defects) attention in Australia, its different here to the US. If you are comfortable or happy with dealing with things that way it might be the one for you.

Other than that, there are plenty of threads dedicated to comparing the borla, and other exhaust systems. There isn't much anyone can say here that will give you a better idea of the sound/volume of the exhaust than experiencing /hearing the exhaust in person.

What happened to MBRP and the SF exhaust you seemed sold on?

Rather than starting new threads for each exhaust, maybe have a look at and contribute to this one. Chances are you will find all the info you need in there, or maybe even provide some info for someone else.

I went with the Borla S Type with Black Tips, should look good with the red, black tips look awesome, at the moment its just sitting in my lounge room waiting for the car:shrug:

I think there are more Borla s type exhausts sitting in peoples houses in Aus than there are S550's in the country at the moment....

Yeah, he also bought an MBRP from CJ. Thread said he ordered it.

I think he's buying a bunch of them to make a test, then toss out the rest.
