As some on here will know, a chap posted on Pistonheads that his new Mustang had caught fire! Probable cause seemed to be electrical. Ford were great and have given him a replacement by the way.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=105&t=1560268&mid=145&nmt=Mustang+woes

However, interestingly, someone else (who is waiting for a car) has just posted after finding a notice on ETIS regarding his build:

Outstanding Field Service Actions 15U39 - MUSTANG RHD WIRING LOOM

Sounds suspiciously like there's a loom issue that needs resolving!?

If this is the case (and please note that I do not know if it is), then I would expect a recall for all UK delivered cars?

Doesn't sound good, however I'm not an engineer.

I hope ours are 'fixed' before they're built - Recall would hopefully not be back to Flatrock, more to a dealership to have it fiddled around with by a 'Mustang Specialist'

My car is on the vessel! :)

But also has in red writing this same outstanding action 15U39

I seriously hope this means they will not ship my car all way back to USA to have this action carried out?

Hope they will do in Belgium customs or at UK dealership?

I also guess this 100% means a recall is incoming for all RHD vehicles already shipped?

Congrats.

I don't personally think they'll go back to USA to fix, i'm not sure of the complexity of the 'wiring loom' however, I assume they can tell someone in the UK how to fix it, rather than paying thousands to recall the car.

Agreed, I could do it myself, I am guessing the loom is routed to close to a manifold or other item which gets hot/warm or there is a wiring/earth error.

Or it could just be Ford panicking and wanting to double check. Just really hoping they can do the action in Belgium or at UK dealership without adding any further delay.

As you can see, my car is so close its unreal:

A field service action happens, well, in the field. Whatever it is, Ford dealers will have been trained and equipped to perform it.

Andy Barratt just informed me not to worry, it is a very simply fix and will be done in Belgium and not add any delay. :)

Brilliant. Saves us any worry then. I wonder how big Andys bonus is going to be for dealing with all of us

Just noticed that thread over on piston heads too, I believe any recalls or service notices get populated into etis regardless of car age. Just checked mine and there's nothing showing, wonder if like the seatbelt issue it only affects certain batches.

What vessel is your car on?
Karen hasn't told me yet. I think it's probably going to be the Eurasian Highway which is in Baltimore 26 Dec, forecast Zebrugge 8 Jan according to the latest K-Line spreadsheet.
