Hello guys, I just have a quick question is the stock shift knob thread size 12 x 1.25 mm? I'm going to tap a gt350 shift knob tomorrow:headbang: and just wanted to make sure I was correct. From what I read this is the right size, but I just wanted to see if anyone can confirm!

I would have beat you to it. Lol mine came damaged a few weeks ago. Now it's back ordered until 1/6. Yes it's 12mm x 1.25. How you planning on holding it when you drill it out?

do you have to drill it out or can you put some kind of an insert into it?

What do you mean how do I plan on holding it? Might just be completely reading it wrong from being tired, so my brain might not be working to capacity lol.

I'm not really sure. I think regardless you would need to tap it. The gt350 knob is a smaller hole than our standard shift knobs, so you would need to expand the opening. You might be able to use an insert. I'm not sure maybe another member with more knowledge can answer.

The MT-82 shifter is larger thread, so it needs drilled out and then tapped. I am planning to offer a kit once I've done testing. But it's been delayed do to shipping damage.

It's a heavy weighted knob also.

Definitely noticed the weight difference. Can't wait to install the knob! After I drill and tap it that's all I will need to do correct?

That depends, do you have the stock shifter? Will the reverse ring fit inside? I'm guessing it will. I'd measure first. I'm making a billet piece since my shifter isn't stock.

Just got the shift knob in today, but I'll definitely be doing some measuring tomorrow and try to get it installed.

Can any one chime in on if the reverse ring will fit the shelby shift knob? Or does anyone know the reverse ring measurements off the top of their head?

It amazes me that the aftermarket haven't gotten into retrofitting the gt350 shift knob to a gt! In the shift knob thread there are ton of designs but no one came up with the gt350 type shift knob design.

I also purchased the white 50 years shift knob from cjpony parts but didn't like it. The color is almost faded white and it is lighter than the stock shifter knob. Stock one and the gt350 shift knob quality with leather and aluminum accents tops most of the after market shift knobs i ve seen so far. Ford did a good job!

Would you happen to know if the stock reverse ring fits the Gt knobs?

i still would like a GT350 shift knob. I do not like these cue ball shift knobs I keep seeing for the S550. Since I have the MGW push down reverse, the fitment of the pull up reverse collar doesnt matter.

can you take a picture of the thread side of the GT350 shift knob? I wonder if it also uses a pull up reverse collar like the mere mortal stangs?
