So....detailers. I have instructed my wife to tell the dealership NOT to wash the exterior of the car at all. I want to do this myself OR have a pro detailer take the first run at it. So if she wanted to give it to me clean and nicely cleaned up is there somewhere local that you all suggest her taking it to?

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

How much you charge? :headbang:
Depends on what level of detail you wanted done. I also require having a car for at least a weekend and have to plan ahead for big jobs. I try not to do a lot of them because I'm in pain for days after it lol

actually I was just kidding but my thoughts on this were I don't want the dealer to give it a good wash and jack the paint up. I am not looking for claying or anything like that I was just thinking a really good initial wash down with someone that knows how to wash the car. I would handle it from there. Does that make sense?

yeah, I have a nice citrus wash that will do a good job of cleaning a lot of the crap off, and we can use the pressure washer, that shit I wouldn't charge you anything if you just wanted to bring the car over

On a side note, my car was pretty clean as far as any rail dust or anything like that when I picked it up. I didn't have to really clay that much, I just skimmed over the car. I didn't bother cutting the clear at all even though there is a slight orange peel to it. I just hit it with polish, sealant, wax after clay. I applied another coat of wax at 6 mos.

That is good to know but if she finds this car out there without having to order it there is no telling what anyone has/had done to it. So if it is already at a dealer then I am sure they would have already washed it but I don't want anyone else to touch once she locks in. If she has to order it then that might be a different scenario.

Yeah, I was a detail manager at a Ford dealer while I was in college so I know how things work at the dealer. There shouldn't be anything that can't be corrected if it's already on a lot. I was the only one allowed to touch the Cobra's in 03-04 at our dealer in the detail dept. so usually there is at least one person with a brain that cleans this things up.

My car was dusty when it came off the truck but I didn't let the dealer wash it. I washed it when I got home but was pleasantly surprised to find virtually no contaminants. I probably should have clayed at least the horizontal surfaces anyway but I didn't even do that. Since no one else washed it there were no swirls to get rid of, but there were some buffer holograms on the left quarter panel. There is a tiny fish eye in the paint right there that must have been sanded and poorly buffed at the plant. I hit that spot with some polish and then just sealed the whole car with CG jetseal 109.

Where was my rambling going? I don't remember now. Other than to illustrate that if you can order a car and be there when it arrives (and don't let the dealer wash it) you shouldn't have any real paint correction to do b

If you don't want anyone to touch it before you, Just have her run it through one of these real quick, I'm sure it will be fine.

Hey jake....you get those long tubes on yet?

I'm probably going to get a set soon. I should have invited myself over to help you out and to see how everything goes together. I'm having a hard time envisioning how the collector will mate to the aftermarket catback.
