Blown Modded EB, Ford Declines Warranty

I feel sorry for this guy. Wasn't a lot of mods but shows how ford can quickly void the warranty in the US.

We have a slightly better stance with warranties over here, but I wouldn't push the upgrades too far or too soon.

Not sure I feel sorry for him. A horrible list of mods - and all done far too early in his ownership!

Terrible modifications and done way to early.

I shall drive my car for 1000 miles before even adding the catback exhaust and then the catback exhaust is the ONLY engine type modification I shall make. When I put a supercharger on there shall be after 12-18 months ownership and the car has 10,000+ miles so everything is nice and free and any early gremlins have shown up and being remedied by warranty.

I am however going wild on the suspension, but that has no impact on engine warranty. ;)

Comes as no surprise though. "Ford has declined the warranty and revoked my entire powertrain warranty due to modifications. They fail to offer any proof that my modifications caused the catastrophic failure, they simply just say it's because I modified the car" Gibbo please take note ;)

I know the law, my exhaust is going on, as are my suspension parts, they have no impact on engine reliability, if the engine fails, they need to prove it blah blah. Law is law and I know my rights.

Engine wise it will be left stock, no air filter, no tune. When I throw a blower on it eventually and if it explodes then my own fault and I take responsibility.

PS. Also noticed this which is of interest: "A very common misconception about FRPP parts. Here is the Warranty Info directly from FRPP's site. Read the first couple sentences. Your Ford warranty does not cover FRPP parts, even if installed by the dealer. On parts that offer an optional FRPP warranty for purchase they will be covered for the time/miles outlined in the specific FRPP info."

If I change my suspension to FRPP, then the warranty on those components are void. If an FRPP damper fails, I have to contact them and take it from there, they will either repair under warranty, repair for a charge, replace or sell me a new one.

End of day suspension I will fix myself, though its very unlikely to break. All I want warranty for is engine, drivetrain and the electrics etc. All of which will not be voided by adding a catback exhaust or suspension parts.

The moral is, don't go cheap on your mods. Invest your money into good and proven manufacturers and tuners and it will pay off in the long run.

Just yankin' your chain mate ;) You of all people should know that I'm a big fan of modding Mustangs. My GT/CS for example was almost an entirely new car by the time I'd finished
