I have a Us spec car with the universal garage door opener on the visor. I can not get it programmed to work with my garage at all. Any suggestions or will it not work since it's a US spec car?
Thanks!

What type of garage door opener do you have? The learning method changed from my 13 to 15. On my 13 all I did was hit the learning button on my opener then hold the button I wanted programmed on my visor within 30 seconds. The light on the opener would flash to confirm it worked.

On my 15 I had to put the visor buttons in a learn mode then hold down the button on my existing opener remote while simultaneously holding the button I want learned on my visor till the light on the visor flashed. Then perform the same steps as I did on my 13 afterwards.

I tried in every way to find a sunvisor with garage opener - and I found it - but ford changed the part # and it changed from ~$120 to more than $300 without reason!
I don't pay 300 dollars for a sunvisor :amen:

Why so obsession with sunvisor garage opener? Don't you have remote control ? All garage door manufacturers provide remotes as standard.

It is the last thing I would ever pay in car.

I'll have to look and see what the brand is on garage door opener. But I've tried everything I could think of to get this thing to work. Didn't know if there was a trick that I was missing.

It came standard on the car so I didn't have to pay for it. I have the US spec GT. Haha yea I have an actual garage door opener, but it'd be nice to have the extra one in case I need to let someone barrow the opener to get in the garage for some reason.

The key to getting it to work is hitting the learning button that's on almost every new garage door opener. And the reason for it copying the signal from the factory remote that came with the door is that on most style openers you can change the frequency by using switches inside the remote. This is so when you buy a new house you can change the frequency in case the previous owner still has a remote and can't get in. Or do it regularly as a security measure of you think someone copied your remote frequency. If you need any further help then what I mentioned before let me know. It can definitely be done I'm sure.

I have two remote opener (one for the gate at entrance, another one for garage door and garage lights) and would be very nice to replace these two remotes with a sunvisor remote - I like a neat and tidy car without stuff laying around.

In my opinion, every thing that adds more power to a car that already has 300+ hp is the last thing I would ever pay in a car... to each their own ;)

300+ hp tells nothing...
You forget the weight.

The critical ratio is how many kg/hp.
6 sec 0-100 is not something extraordinary.

Afterall I would prefer a nice exhaust...to improve a sound a bit ;)

I usually velcro mine inside the driver side door pocket. Invisible, easy in reach and doesn't rattle.

With our roads and our laws (and our gas price) 6 sec 0-100 is even too much :) I always have to drive very carefully to avoid holes\bumps\rocks...
However someone is more interested on power and some other on aesthetics\functions.

I would love a nice exhaust too.. but 1) it's not allowed here and 2) it's not the same price of a sunvisor :)

good idea, but since we could have this 'option' so well integrated, I would prefer the sunvisor. Yeah I'm not sleepless thinking at a sunvisor, but would be a nice feature :)

uhm guys, one of the reason we don't have the garage door opener included in the EU is different regulations in allowable radio signals and frequencies.

I'm guessing this is the same for Asia and down under as well - so I can see why they'd "skimp" on this feature. Not sure why we don't get BLIS or memory seats though I heard it had something to with our dumbo mirrors... such is life :)

Maybe there is any chance to install somehow alternative device to this stock one and hide it "anywhere" you want

The just order the the visor from the US car. Even if your RH drive and the visor will be on the passenger side who cares. It's still easily accessible from the driver seat.
