The dealer does test drive it to test it as part of the PDI process. I saw the service guy drive off in my car. I followed him and he went about 5 miles.

Five miles in a vehicle with an Outstanding Field Service Action for a potentially faulty restraint system? Bad idea. PDI should come after the recall is complete.

Seeing if my dealer can DX a car a few hours away. Same options from what I ordered with +Enhanced Security. Fingers crossed they can do it for same deal we agreed on with $500 below invoice.

I can't speak for Ford, but I know Chevrolet products are in "transport mode" when they come off the truck, and that gets corrected at PDI. on GM cars, it's an annoyance if you drive it before that.

I can't speak for anyone, haha! I'm just surmising that Ford and the dealership are on the hook if a technician gets injured, or killed, because he was performing a PDI like this on a vehicle under an open safety recall.

Mine was unloaded from the rail car yesterday! I'm waiting to hear from the dealer, hoping it doesn't take too long to get on a truck to the dealership.

I usually just use Cars.com and narrow down the search with the options I want.

Without this forum and you I'd be in total darkness on this whole deal. After learning yesterday that the car I ordered had been delivered to the dealership on Monday I decided to send the dealer a not so pleasant email (even though I knew I couldn't get the car because of the recall).

The sales guy, who I haven't spoken to since the day I ordered the car, called me back within about an hour. He apologized and said they'd start looking for another car. There's only one coming to a dealer within 60 miles of me that has what I want and it's still at the factory in Michigan. He doesn't know, and I didn't tell him, that I have already inquired with the other dealership about that car.

So, we'll see what happens. At least this seems to have lit a small fire under their butts to do something for a change.

The dealership has to pay for someone to go get it and gas. It's up to them whether they are going to charge you for it.

I did that just now, but anything close to what I ordered is in Hawaii! Guess I ordered a bit of a rarity..

I found a car very similar to what I ordered with the only difference being this one has navigation. I spoke to the dealer and their price is not as good as what I got for the one I ordered (We're off by about $500).

Almost came close to a deal that my dealer was going to get the car that was similar a few hours away, but found out the front plate bracket was already installed. Back to the waiting game lol.
