Thanks, guys. My dad (and me) are by-the-books types, so he took photos and went straight away to his local insurance provider. I did tell him to let them know that I require the local Ford dealership and body shop where I bought the car to do the repairs, so I'm hoping you're right about the perfect repair, brandon.

So I guess it'll go on the Carfax, right? Man, I really really love this car and wanted it to be my perfect angelic beauty for decades to come. It was going to be my garage queen. I don't know how I feel now.
Do some research on auto body places in your area; the dealership is rarely the best place to have it repaired.

Sorry man! I know what you mean, Definitely can't be mad at him. Dad's rule. There is some crazy Chinese 350 front fascia thread floating around somewhere. :)

Damn, man. Sorry to hear/see this. I had my car for one week before my girlfriend hit mine. We have really close side by side spots. She paid to have it fixed. It sucks.. but you will get over it, especially after it looks better.
Did you end up still loving the car as much after the accident? She's no longer a pristine sex beast.

Sorry that happened. It sucks. However, looking at the picture, this is completely fixable by a decent body shop and when they get done you'll never be able to tell the difference. Maybe it will have less value in your mind, but your car will be just as good as if it hadn't happened.

Yes. You are lucky in a sense. I had to drive it damaged to and from work for a few days before getting it fixed. That was awful. As soon as it was fixed I felt much better. No negative feelings about it now. Once it is repaired and cleaned up you'll feel better.

I had about $1500 worth of repairs to my rear end done at my dealership few months back.

They told me they don't report anything to carfax, my insurance company said they don't report anything to carfax. I ended up paying out of pocket but would be interested to see if anything shows up on mine.

I love driving the sucker and don't want to purely store it like UltraKla$$ic does :D

That should be an easy OEM fender swap and paint match. Just do yourself a BIG FAVOR and take it to a very reputable shop that can actually paint. You don't want the headache of most crappy stealership workmanship.

Thanks guys. It will be going to the stealership, but they're good ole country boys so I feel like they should know their stuff. Ford boys through and through. I believe they did some repair work on my moms car years ago and it was great.

Any advice on how to make sure they do a good job before I accept it? Just a visual check on it all or anything more serious?

Because it's a metallic paint check it under direct sunlight and under fluorescent lights in a shop, because the color from panel to panel may not match up. It all depends on how the paint is applied in the factory if it's painted while the panel is on the car as opposed to lying flat on a fender stand the glass or whatever ford uses for metallic will either lay down or stand in the paint making that panel look very different than all others in a "true light" situation.

I wouldnt be too concerned about Carfax.... I traded in a 2014 Scion Tc that was hit twice in the first 6 months....both times insurance companies were involved...after I bought the Mustang i checked the dealer to see what they we're asking and noticed Carfax so i checked it out...CLEAN!!!...only thing on it was recent oil change just before i traded it in.... Go figure...I dont trust Carfax now....Good Luck on your repair....BTW I had a body shop not the dealer repair the Tc and was very happy with the results

I too vote to shop around and avoid dealership collision repairs. They are usually contracted out to private parties anyhow. And usually someone that has already ruined their name in your town. I use to be in the body shop business
In my area it was always the biggest fuck up in town that got to brag about running the Chevy or Ford dealerships body shop.

Does this still apply if the dealership has their own full body shop repair facility attached to the dealership? This is a small town and small dealership that has a great reputation here. We've been buying cars from them for 20 years. The body shop is right next to the maintenance shop.
