I came close to a deal on a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost Premium manual with navigation and reverse park assist. MSRP was $31,215, and the deal I had in August was $28,150 with deal doc fees.

They tried to pull a fast one with my trade in so I walked...I special ordered a 2016 with the same specs (adding on a $195 spare tire), and the total price is $28,466.

Now the one I walked away from is still on the lot and it's October. How much is it worth at this point?

Dealer invoice is right around what their price was which is a decent price....not the trade though.

and there's hardly a difference from the 15s to the 16s. Its not like the 15s are just going to TANK in price. Its a year old, and the first MY of a new platform. They'll hold their value pretty well.

Take the '16, absolutely a no brainer if they are that close in price. It could be worth as much as several grand when you look to sell or trade.

Ford isn't offering anything special on the 2015's, the 16's are about the same price. Now a dealer may step up on a trade to move a 15, but otherwise the 16 is a way better buy.

That said, used 15's are going through the auction (early build company service vehicles) and have been bargain priced. I just bought a 11K mile GT. This may vary by region, but here in the north the Mustangs almost always tank for winter, and this year with the bloom off the rose and cold weather hitting at the same time they are really down.

Don't know if this helps or not, but my '15 Eco base with PP, parking assist and security package, I got for $24,827. Bought it at the end of August.

I think I got a good deal.

I would go for the 16 or go for the car of your choice regardless of the year if the deals are comparable.

16. Sounds like the 15 has been outside for a while. Not a huge deal but a consideration.

I was able to get roughly 6k off my 15 with 0% for 72. This was right before labor day.

I checked on a Roush RS2 at the dealer I bought my 2015 GT from, they have 3 that have been there since Feb. They would not come off the price any. I told him my 2015 GT has only 3000 miles and I don't need to or have to trade mine in, it came down to if they would make me a good deal or not, they did not budge. The 3 RS2's are still there along with about 30 other RS1's, RS's and about 15 Sherrod customs, all 2015's.

I had the same experience with a dealer that had an RS2. Would not come off MSRP on the vehicle. They still have it I wonder if in 2017 they will start selling them as collector vehicles lol

Keep in mind the 15's are the 50th year. That means something to some people but nothing to others. As for the Roush models, I'm surprised they're not budging on the prices. The sticker on my RS1 was 43k and I got it for 38k.

The RS2 I looked at was $52,700, I figured they would come down to at least $48,000. I guess I was wrong!
