There nothing wrong with Fred's. I've bought many a car from him. :)

I very much doubt that only one person in dealer has access to vista.

Does anyone else dread making that call to their dealer? You listen to that Muzak, knowing that non of your questions will be answered and even more annoying is that they sound puzzled as to why you have even bothered to get in touch.

I wanted someone to send me a screenshot of my Vista page but the sales girl has just said that the finance guy is the only one that can access it, and he's on holiday.

She's sure that once he is back that his first priority will be to continue updating everybody.

I said that I have not received any updates at all. Oh really she said, completely disinterested.

I ordered a 987 Boxster, when they were first announced. That was around ÂŁ35k and it was a 7 month wait but I was treated like a king in the interim.

Test drives, track tuition, all free of charge plus some presents when I finally picked the car up.

Considering I was buying that company's entrance level car, it was more than I expected.

We are buying Ford's top of the range car but are treated as if we have bought a 10 year old Fiesta from Fred's Car Sales in Leigh-on-Sea.
I think that is a nasty thing to say and completely wrong. Fred puts his life and sole into his business and I have always found him proactive post sale and pre delivery customer support has always been great.

[emoji2] I thought you were just being clever tbh - I appreciated it as a joke - no offence meant [emoji106]

Back on topic - I've never called my dealer to get updates, only ever emailed him (and not chased if it's taken a day or two to respond). I've also restricted myself to asking for an update no more than once a month - means more time without any new news, but that's a fair price for not being a pain-in-his-ass.

Now that Karen is another source, I'm primarily alternating between the two, so I get more regular updates.

I do have a good dealer though (thanks to stevec who recommended him)....

Ha ha, no offence taken.

Yep, I do the same. Stuart is pretty good but I think I give him as much info as he gives me, thanks to this forum and my initial contacts with Andy. Mind you, I did email Karen over a day ago asking if my car is on this boat thats meant to be sailing and have not had a response....that's worrying!

Just seen a brand new 65 plate Civic Type R GT parked nearby. Looks a bruiser of a car and you get everything, completely loaded for ÂŁ32,995.

Mmmmm I wonder what Honda Customer Service is like.

Thing is, it looks like one of those cars that will be on the most nickable list.

Only 1 person in the dealership i'm buying mine from has access to it, thats what i'm led to believe. Everytime i've spoken to them in the early days it was a case of only the new car sales manager has access to Vista for Mustang orders.

I will be pestering a certain someone on here :ninja::cheers: for info at the end of the week due to my last update showing that EXIT US DOCKS has today's date so I am hoping the status will update to show some sort of indication it's on the boat and on route to Zeebrugge.

Depends on how long your car has been at the docks for i suppose, mine got there on 7th Oct, given customs clearance, etc it was never going to make the 13th.
I have exit us docks on 19th which was the original sailing date for Eurasian, thats moved back a day to 20th now.
Ah I see what you mean mate, basing it on your dock arrival date

Well we definitely know it's not just the finance guy because the sales people also have access.

I have been emailing Karen and andy over the last month or so as I thought they would have more accurate info
all the emails I have had last month from them stated that the boat had left with my car on it and still on time for a November delivery.
I tracked on vessellfinder to find boat (the ivory arrow) is still in dock at Maryland (13/10/15)
so if you take 14 days to reach zeebruuge, 4 weeks to go thru customs and underseal
2 weeks to uk dealer
we wont be getting the UCL cars this year
if it comes in December I definitely wont want it registered until jan 2016 (I bet the dealer will push for a 2015 registration though) as it is surprising how much extra a jan 16 car will be worth in a few years time than a dec 15 car
looks like no one still knows whats going on .....boooh hoooo

Oh they know... This can't be the most difficult project Ford have undertaken in their long and illustrious history so in my opinion the reason why we're being given so little information on the progress and reasons for the delays (on those cars that are delayed) is that the information would not be to our liking. If they have to p*ss off someone then better not make that someone their biggest customer.

Plus I'm not entirely sure Andy/Karen have any more info than the dealers regarding where the cars are and when they'll be arriving. Everything I've been told has just confirmed my dealer isn't sh*tting me. They clearly do have direct access to all the facts however and appear to answer specific questions, such as the long-running interior materials issue.

Being philosophical is one thing but we don't button up the back....

Yes, hence I no longer contact my dealer, instead gaining info from helpful posters on here.

Re. the point about buying your Porsche: it's little wonder it was a completely different ballgame when you consider their entry level car is/was the same price as Ford's halo product (GT not withstanding), so by treating you well they're softening you up come trade-in time when you may be persuaded into something a little higher spec. Ford can't do that with Mustang buyers since we're buying in at, for all intents and purposes, the top of their range. There's no need for them to keep us sweet as there's no upsell come trade-in time.

Not only that, but the market for Porsche cars is a lot smaller than it is for Fords, so once they have a qualified paying customer, they want to keep you. Again, Ford have no need to do this since most of their range is, like most other mainstream manufacturers, "white goods" with interchangeable customers.

All that said, Ford's handling of this whole debacle has been utterly dismal & I am genuinely shocked that any company of this size, never mind my favourite car maker, can be so incompetent to the point of the MD of Ford UK having to come onto an enthusiasts website to placate people.

So has anyone heard from Ford that their car is on a boat? I had the email confirming they'd tell us (as per the below)

"Once your vehicle has cleared customs and is loaded onto a ship in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, we will be in touch again to share with you the name of the vessel. This will allow you to track its progress via www.vesselfinder.com. Once your vehicle has reached Zeebrugge, please allow 5-6 weeks for European customs clearance and onward delivery to the UK."

I find it hard to believe that given the build dates of all the cars, and the number of cars that are now "SHIPPED" (mine included, albeit fairly recently so probably not on a boat yet), that none are not sailing across the pond by now....

Would love to hear that someone has tracked their car onto a boat #hopeful

Nothing official from Ford, but I know my car is at the port, and should be on a boat on the 20th
