I just had the same swap done at DaSilva. Took just a few minutes and I love the results. It's definitely way more subtle than aftermarket (I had Roush axelbacks on my 2012.) But it's got more of a burble at 2000 rpm under load, more growl and less high-end under hard acceleration, and I can always hear SOMETHING when the engine is running. I hated how the stock V6 exhaust was basically SILENT.

Joe advised that the wider pipe should net a few HP difference as well.

I'm glad I did this. It's what I wanted since I had my 2000 V6 which had a similar burble.

Here's quick video:
Had mine done by Joe as well!

Finally got around to taking some videos. I was alone so had to put my phone on the trunk while I was revving. Discovered my video stopped after the first rev but at least it's something. Also took a video inside.

Need to revive this thread...I'm on the fence of going to DaSilva as well to get this done. Honestly, is it worth it? Is the sound change that noticable that it's worth the $200? Ultimately I would want to go aftermarket, but I have no reference point other than my stock v6 exhaust.

It would be amazing if you guys could post some more videos with revving and maybe flyby's.

Yeah my videos weren't exactly top quality lol. Are you close by DaSilvas? I could meet up at the Crappy Tire by the 401 there and let you hear it in person. I'd be interested in comparing them side-by-side so we can see if it is just a placebo effect.

Unfortunately no. I actually have to carve out a day off to go get stuff done there. But if you'd like to help out the rest of the people looking to do this, we can still do the comparison. Are you in any of the local groups? (s550 m6g, Ontario Mustang Club facebook pages?)

I picked up the Gt catback , for 2 reasons -1 the V6 is too quiet and aftermarket catbacks are too loud for me (getting older ). 2nd I hate the exhaust tips on the V6.Have not installed one as I am still waiting for my vert, but have heard one and it sounded great.I paid $150 for a Gt catback and it will cost probably $100 for adapters and install-$250 total not bad

Yeah I'm on the fence right now. I realize that the sound is a subjective topic and everyone likes different things, but I just want best of both worlds.

1) I like that stock GT catback for $200 I get a bit more sound and don't have to cut anything. I will drive this in winter and would like to avoid early rust.

2) I realllllllllllllllly like Borla S-Type axleback sound and can get one for a reasonable price (although nothing is reasonable in Canada right now), but I'm not sure I want to spend $1000 to get it done. Then again, gotta do it right or not do it at all.

Would love to hear the stock GT catback in real life from members local to Toronto and surrounding areas.

Yeah I'm in the Toronto s550 facebook Group. I'm actually out in Guelph right now (final year of university) so West end meetups are a lot easier. I think there is a meetup on the 18th. I'll be at that one!

Just out of curiousity, what did you guys pay at DaSilva for the swap? This seems really interesting. I'm pretty far away from Whitby but I hear they do really really great work. I'm still waiting on the arrival of 2016 V6 but my brother's 2015 V6 does sound pretty quiet and money is tight for me. Thanks in advance

Well I got a special deal since I was the one they tested it on. Sadly I can't provide pricing details for ya. Mustang Eh and I are planning to meet up tomorrow at DaSilva's and record a few revs/flybys and will hopefully have some good clips!

Any change in low end torque by doing this? Generally, adding a larger / less restrictive exhaust to a car that does not require it bites into the initial "pick up" / low end range but helps in the upper RPMs

I was told maybe a 5hp gain but I haven't dyno'd it. It doesn't feel any faster, just sounds nicer

When you put the Gt catbacks on did they install adapters or just weld them?
Thanks

I was actually more so asking if you feel you lost any low end "pep" (leaving a dead stop, etc.)

Im curious as to the install as well since my car is a lease. Is this just a simple bolt on / swap out in the factory locations or does welding and work need to be done like adding an aftermarket axle back

Also........is there anyway to fit this thing in the car? I can go pick up one up tomorrow an hour away but all I have is my Mustang. Logically, when looking at the car from the rear, the exhaust is wider then the trunk opening and does not appear to work.......But......I didnt know if anyone succesfully somehow got it in their car angled then walking it in toward the cabin with the seats folded down, etc.

Mustang_Eh, I live in the east end of Toronto. I could meet up some time, or I will try to make it out to the next cars n coffee.

The sound is definitely more than placebo, because the old pipe were SILENT. They could only be heard at WOT. Now I get a nice little burble with any throttle. Not loud, and most people would NEVER notice. But I can hear something so I am happy. If you are serious about going aftermarket, I'm sure you WON'T be happy. This is obviously still factory daily-driver stuff.

Was it worth $200? For sure. Joe was really generous and swapped me his personal GT takeoffs. If you can find someone who wants their take offs to have a good home, then why not go for it? The tips alone are worth it, they look so much better than the crappy V6 tips.

Install was literally 5 minutes. I watched. Bolt on only. I didn't see any cutting or torch. The guys were joking about how fast it was. They made the observant comment that Ford wasn't fooling around, they want to be able to drop the correct set of pipes in place and have them installed at the factory ASAP, regardless of the model on the line.
