With winter coming in the next few months i will need a DD because gt PP will be garaged(I live in NJ and we get slammed with snow). I have a few options here. Ive always wanted a hatchback for its versitility and I could put a roof rack on it for my kayaks and snowboard.

Option 1: Purchase a new or used focus ST to use as my daily. Will be financed.
Option 2: Trade in the stang and purchase a 16 Focus RS and have best of both worlds. Put Winter tirea on immediately. Will be financed.
Option 3: Keep Stang and purchase an RS. My wallet will be destroyed and the fiance would probably not approve. I would be able to comfortably afford after the new year when I get a big contract raise. Probably cant afford it until then.

#3 if I have to choose among those options.

Otherwise I'd say to keep the Mustang and buy a cheaper hatch to DD through lousier weather -- maybe something a few years old. 2010ish Scubie?

I vote for option 1. The st is pretty good in snow from what I've read. They are a blast to drive too. We had a '14 before the mustang. Besides you already have a nice gt and it might be hard to get an RS.

Get the Focus ST. with $1500 in mods it's roughly a 330hp car with comfortable interior, amazing suspension, great gas mileage, high in utility/usefulness and has a ton of more torque than a Mustang.

The RS is going to have through the roof demand. Only 2000 units will be produced for 2016 in the US, and markups will be worse than Shelbys.

As someone that had a '13 GT and a '14 ST concurrently, they are wildly different cars, and should be treated as such. Sure the '15 GT has better everything, and the '16 RS is "more" than the ST, but the core is the same, just with AWD.

Get the RS if you can, but not a damn thing wrong with the ST. Don't give up a Mustang for either though.

Lastly -- the ST and RS both come with summer-only tires. They'll both need snow tires for the winter.

only focus I would own is an ST or an RS for sure but no way I could buy an st personally and see an RS and not have envy. I'm glad I live where I can drive my mustang all year round though.

I own my 2015 Mustang and recently bought a 2015 ST1 as my daily! I love the ST! love love love it!!!

I actually prefer to drive it over the Mustang most often!

I have no qualms about getting an ST knowing the RS is around the corner.

I'd go with option #3, or buy a used wrx and keep the stang.

Option #3 or #1 is the most logical for me. You don't want to take a huge depreciation hit now.

Because the RS is coming out in spring 2016, Option #1 is the best choice.

Or buy a beater ST and mod the hell out of the 5.0 with the difference :D
you got that backwards. ST likes boost - 300whp on stock turbo is easy. 400whp w/ a small bolt on turbo upgrade.

I care about infotainment
Just go with the ST. RS looks like it will be a beast of a car but if you want speed you just have the GT PP waiting in the garage; RS becomes redundant.

Personally, if I had the money to afford a second car and I still lived up in NYC I'd buy a WRX (non-STI) as my winter vehicle.

I say go with option 1. I would try and find a nice used one at carmax. The RS won't even be available until spring and getting your hands on one might be difficult.

it has an engine!
#3 when you can afford it. Boosted fwd on winters is decent but not that great to drive through snow. Driven a buddies beater srt4 and its blah with winters compared to awd. Even awd on all seasons is still better then boosted fwd on winters. No doubt.
