Warning, kind of long winded.

I had a long flight to SLC from DCA and read the GT350 supplement. I am sure the guy next to me really wanted to ask WTF dude. I printed it out because I wanted to make sure I could make notes on pages as though I was studying for a test. Funny right?

I don't ever remember reading an owners manual from cover to cover. And yet I did and don't even have the car yet. I would like to go test drive any equipped car with Sync III just to test it out.

Anyone else notice the statement regarding recorded telemetry? Kind of spooky and cool. The not cool part is knowing the police or insurance could hold the recorded events against you. Not that I plan on needing a lawyer or anything. Just wish I could turn it off if I really wanted to. I get it, Big Brother is watching everywhere and is creeping more and more into everything.

Ok so the positive cool - - I can use the telemetry! I would like to know which smart guy (patent pending) can help me develop a way to tap into all of the functions and decode it all for a simple APP like reader. WITHOUT buying the ultra expensive scanners.

I have see some iterations of this for diagnostics purposes. Why not have a way to unlock the factory module for recording the data?

Another cool is the discussion about warranty and racing. It spells out the car's intent and supplants language (lawyer speak) to support competitive use of the car. Very interesting. I was told by someone who owns a 68 that the manual forbid racing and voided the warranty. Not sure if that is true. I trust this guy.

I also had a really good conversation with another guy who ordered and documented everything for a 70 Boss. What a story! I am very lucky to now be able to have the same story XX number of years from now.

I am so stoked about this car. At first, I felt some buyers remorse but got over it kind of quick. It is a cyclic emotional stress because of the mystery surrounding the delivery date. I am struggling now with the GT350 vs R factor. I wanted the back seat and opted for the non-R after wrestling with this for a few days. Then f'n magic! last week I saw the back seat option available from SVT. C'mon, really? Yes, I realize the tech statements above does not match my envy for an R.

Now, wonder if the dealer would be willing to order the R, and use the non-R for stock sale?

Done for now. I will go sit and color while my car gets built.

R.

You don’t want to know

First, what you are calling "telemetry" has been a part of almost every car sold in the U.S. for more than 10 years. It generally records the last several seconds of your driving the car, upgrading constantly. I'm not aware of anyone that has successfully and reliably defeated the newest ones, because they are pretty well integrated into the vehicles' electronics. And many people who have been speeding or doing something else illegal or stupid have been convicted of a traffic violation or lost their insurance based on the readings of the device.

Second, this system won't give you the output you need for diagnostics, but the OBD II Port under the dash will. You can buy an inexpensive module that will plug into the OBD port to translate the signal via Bluetooth or WiFi, for apps like Dash Command.

Wouldn't a warrant be needed to access this info?

Spa2k,

Disclaimer, telemetry = to me is what you described as included for the last 10 years. Guess my Land Rover owners manual omitted the disclaimer. As this is the only car I have owned built in the last decade. Not trying to get to much in the weeds, just general BS. I think it is good to know so I can also request such data from others if they are stupid and hit my car. I do live and drive in the DC metro area where it is a challenge to avoid the crazies putting on their face or talking on cell and driving 75+ in traffic. Kind of fun in my truck and LR, unnerving in anything else.

That said, I was referring to pro diagnostic equipment that unlocks fault codes and vehicle control modules not typically provided by code readers.

Interesting to know folks have actually been convicted and lost insurance. Will carry a small EMP device just in case I need it. Probably will never need it though, I only drive the posted speed limits. And I have only rolled one car in 1987. To funny.
