also, fuck the plates i guess. i can't thing of one good enough to make me happy to pay 500 bucks for 5 years, especially when I have 5 yrs remaining on my current plates...i just wanted to think of something good before all the good 7 letter plates get taken(i have a 1 day advantage on getting one before most of texas)

With those options, I'd vote for no custom plate. I think they're all pretty bad.

I live in Southern California, near LA...No front plates either.

Not sure how cops are over there, but I've actually noticed that there are a hand-full of cars here without them...Mostly really nice and expensive cars and people who can afford those tickets

*knock on wood* i live in texas and have never run a front plate. Even while getting many speeding tickets a cop has never harassed me about tint or a front plate.

Especially since the 7 letter plates will be opening up to the public permanently starting tomorrow.

Actually they're $150 per year for a custom style plate and a personalized message. If you pay in advance for five years, you pay only $450, so you're essentially getting two years free by giving the plate vendor more money today. Registration fees are an additional $66 a year for most Texas counties, so the vanity plate fees go to the vendor, not the state.
