I've had the DD switchbacks in for quite a while now- as soon as the retooled ones were available.

Two days ago, my son was asking how I would be able to tell if a turn signal burnt out, because it now has the faster interior blinking rate all the time (that would normally let you know). I told him that I check my lights quite often - looking at reflections off bumpers or cars in front or behind me. Large windows at strip malls work great too.

Well, on my drive to work this morning I'm at a light waiting to make a left turn, and I checked in my rear view mirror to see if my rear blinkers were working, then off the car in front of me to see if the front signal was working. Sure enough - it wasn't. I turned off the blinker, and could see the fog light come back on, but the white marker light never did. I got to work and took a look - and the bulb is floating around in the housing. I'm going out to an event tonight after work, so I'll be driving home without a front left turn signal.

I wonder if throwing some electrical tape around the base of the lamp and the socket would help... but I'm worried about the heat dissipation.

Just thought that I would pass this on as something you should all look out for.

Man that sucks. I'm really sorry that happened to you. I want to know what DD is doing to not only fix these issues but make it up to the customers for raping them on bulbs. What do these things cost? $65? That is an utter outrage and completely unacceptable imho. They marketed these bulbs to be of the highest quality and all I see are people posting issues with them. I personally did not buy any as much as I really like the look and function, I couldn't justify the price. If I had paid and had these problems, I'd be apocalyptically pissed off for paying for American "quality". Back to the op, keep us posted on what they say about this if you contact them.

We have someone in our group with issues with theirs as well. Flickering on the drivers side. Ive stayed away from replacing mine. One less thing I have to deal with.

I think the number of people having problems are probably very small compared to the number sold but I'm just guessing. As far as the flickering, my bet is people weren't careful, following the instructions that clearly say to ensure the pins on the bulb are straight and aligned. I've had 2 sets now and both worked flawlessly. I started with the 6000 (default) and didn't know they had 5000 available. So I got the 5000 set and they work great as well. I had no fitment issues with either set. They are/were very snug in the sockets.

Just talk to the Guys at DD. Since I work right down the street i have been able to interact with them a few times.

I too have had the flickering at times. They have broken their backs to make sure I am taken care of. Even following up a few weeks later just to see.

Granted, I know I can just drop by and see them vs shipping things back and forth. but these guys truly care and are trying to build something special and do it right. Give them the benefit of doubt please. Talk to them before passing internet judgement.

We addressed the base fitment issue in February. The bulbs are all tested by hand to ensure proper fitment in the 2015+ Mustang's socket.

If you are experiencing an issue, please give us a call and we will assist you with troubleshooting tips and warranty replacements: (314) 205-3033

We've put a great deal of time and effort into developing these bulbs, and even bought our own 2015 Mustang to make sure they will work correctly.

They are covered by our 3-year limited warranty, and we want to make sure you are taken care of.

Thanks,
Nick C.

I agree to an extent not to drag someone's name through the dirt, but why not let others know about faulty parts? Regardless, its still inconvenient, and from my pov its annoying as these bulbs specifically were promised to be of the highest quality to justify the price. Clearly not the case as this is the second thread and the first has several ppl with the same problems. Why brush it under the carpet? I've been on a few forums before and this one seems to have the best company loyalty where ppl try to stay quiet about problems. Everytime a problem does come up on this forum, there are one or two ppl on the thread bashing the op for saying anything. lol. There was a guy that posted a problem he had with Steeda struts recently and was pretty open about it and 50% of the responses were bashing the op including the vender! If you have a problem, take it up with the vender and work it out and I see no issue posting in the meantime. If it all works out in the end who cares? The responses to shut the op up comes off shady AF to me...

I'm not bashing you nor am I passing judgement on the vender, just giving my observation of what I see here in general

I agree to an extent but...

Typical courtesy is to try to work it out with a company's customer service first and if you can't get satisfaction, then take it to the Internet. Especially when we are dealing with one of our forum sponsors.

Nick has always provided the best customer service and is extremely responsive. Plus the issue was addressed and DD came out with new bulbs to address the issue. It's been posted many times.

Yea for sure. I think if the company resolves the issue quickly and the customer is happy with the company's response then there really is no issue. Perhaps just a positive note to post up for the rest to see. I might have misunderstood the op as well as I thought he said he had the new bulbs.

I have to agree. Step 1 is contact the vendor directly before posting things. It just makes it look like there are a lot more unresolved problems with a product then there really are.

Ive never seen DD say they wouldnt replace an item for anyone here that wasn't working correctly. They stand by their warranty more than any vendor I know of.

I get the whole not wanting to make things look bad for the vender, but for me personally, I would not want to buy something only to have to take it out, ship it back, and wait for it to come back to reinstall, even if its done under warranty. Just make them right the first time and its a win win for everyone. Its like all the ppl that ordered their mustangs and found panel misalignments and what have you. By the same logic they shouldn't post anything either as most are being fixed under warranty. Just my .02.

Yeah but the point is, that was an issue that the vendor fixed months ago. There have been a couple threads already discussing this so the answers are posted. Plus a quick call to their customer support would have cleared it up very quickly. Both sets that I've had have been since they corrected the base design and mine fit perfect.

When will we see all of the '15 bulbs in stock?
We are expecting more switchbacks to arrive as early as next week

Again, I understand how frustrating it can be when issues arise, but I can't stress enough how much time our team has been put into the development of the HP24 Switchbacks. Our team tested them extensively in our 2015 Mustang prior to making them available for customers. Our production team tests every single bulb prior to shipping them to the customer.

I assure you we are not sweeping any issues under the table. We have always been upfront with members and provided updates on the forums. We even put together a video demonstrating what we did to ensure proper fitment in the 2015 Mustang's socket. We removed the switchbacks from the site when we first heard reports of them falling out from the socket, and didn't relist them until it was fixed.

If you order from us, you are covered by a solid 3-year warranty and our customer service team is always here if you need help.

Please give us a call if you need more support: (314) 205-3033

We are proud to be a sponsor of this forum, and look forward to continued support from Mustang6G members

Thank you,
Nick C.

Hey guys - OP here. Sorry I couldn't get back to the forum before now.

First - I am IN NO WAY bashing Diode Dynamics!!!! I think they are a great company ,with great products, and greater than great customer service. I would buy again from them in a second, if I didn't already have pretty much everything they make for the Mustang (except the grill and fog lights which just don't interest me).

Second - I have the modded bulbs that DD sent out as warranty for my first ones.

Third - I apologize if my post came across as a complaint. It wasn't. It was simply me discussing a hidden failure - hidden because the cockpit indication for a burnt out turn signal will not work with the LED switchbacks because of the lower current. The car sees it as a fault all the time (and makes the cool galloping noise) - I thought it ironic that my son asked me how I would be able to tell if a bulb had burnt out (knowing how normal cars operate) just before I had an actual failure.

Cheers and happy Friday (even though I have to work overtime this afternoon)
