I've had the DD switchbacks in for quite a while now- as soon as the retooled ones were available.
Two days ago, my son was asking how I would be able to tell if a turn signal burnt out, because it now has the faster interior blinking rate all the time (that would normally let you know). I told him that I check my lights quite often - looking at reflections off bumpers or cars in front or behind me. Large windows at strip malls work great too.
Well, on my drive to work this morning I'm at a light waiting to make a left turn, and I checked in my rear view mirror to see if my rear blinkers were working, then off the car in front of me to see if the front signal was working. Sure enough - it wasn't. I turned off the blinker, and could see the fog light come back on, but the white marker light never did. I got to work and took a look - and the bulb is floating around in the housing. I'm going out to an event tonight after work, so I'll be driving home without a front left turn signal.
I wonder if throwing some electrical tape around the base of the lamp and the socket would help... but I'm worried about the heat dissipation.
Just thought that I would pass this on as something you should all look out for.
