Would you say that you like the sound of the MBRP street better than the ford racing sport? And which one do you think was louder?
They sounded about the same from a sound level perspective. The Street has a deeper tone and way better price which sold me. My second choice is the Borla S-Type.

Nice and yes the price of the street and having a h pipe sold me. Now one day if I want it louder I'll just buy new axle backs. And by doing this I'll only have spent $1100 on exhaust systems. Most people out there are spending more on just one setup. But for now this is perfect since I have a baby coming if a few months.

Hey guys, sorry for the inflammatory post. I was upset after waiting months for this to arrive, I had it built up in my head.

I think the performance thins is a combo of the computer needing to adjust a little after a few miles as was mentioned (I have a livernois tune, but I don't think that should matter) and the psychological aspect of it being louder and feeling it should be going faster. I still feel like the 60-80 acceleration isn't as hard as before, but as you all say, that just shouldn't be possible.

As for he sound –*well I'm coming from the 2007 4.6L GT w/ Ford Racing Sport / Borla exhaust. I really loved that combo –*the burbling back pressure sounds on deceleration were particularly nice. I don't know if any exhaust does that with this new 5L engine –*it just seems to wind down on decel without any fun exhaust note. Am I right that this isn't a characteristic that's possible with this engine? I know it sounds stupid, but I didn't realize what I liked about the old setup until I got this new one.

A few other things about how this MBRP street system sounds... on cold startup, it actually sounds really great. But warm idle is pretty much as quiet as stock –*not so good. Driving around at slow speeds has a nice growl to it. WOT is not so pleasant to me –*I know this is super subjective. I guess I just don't like the racy high tones – I was expecting more throaty roar like the what I had before. This sounds more like a high-revving import to me.
Should have got the race then! Everything you described is what the street excels at not doing. You bought the wrong exhaust for your tastes plain and simple. Also imo the street is raspier than the race at wot.

I just put the MBRP street on mine as well, and honestly I love the low rpm sounds. However like the OP when I floor it from first gear through 3rd it sounds like a damn motorcycle. Not very pleasant, and very high pitched hah.

Yes that's exactly it –*it sounds like a motorcycle at WOT. Casual driving around it sounds great, cold start is great, no drone is great. Warm idle is too quiet and WOT sounds like a 16yo on a dirtbike. No burble or other back pressure noise on deceleration either, but that could be the engine characteristics.

My street makes lots of back pressure noises on deceleration. But remember this is a street system. It's not supposed to be very loud.

Sorry I can't see your signatures on my phone - do you have intakes or other mods that affect airflow? I also have the GTPP but no burble at all, even with a higher rpm downshift.

I have no intakes, only mod is exhaust. I'm closer to sea level being in NE Ohio, and I run in sport mode all day. Dunno if that matters...

I have the race. I get plenty of back burbles and noises on deceleration. especially when shifting 1st to 2nd.

GoodEye, I think that the sluggishness you are feeling on the highway is not just in your mind. There is some data on the internet to backup that 3" exhausts can decrease HP and Torque in the lower RPMs, i.e. cruising on the highway. After I put my MBRP race on I feel the exact same thing. It's like I have to push the throttle down just a tad extra to get the car to accelerate on the highway. Around town I don't notice it because my foot is burried anyway and I drive around in S+ mode. Below is a link to a 13 GT with MBRP street exhaust. If you look at the table at the bottom of the article, you will see the loss in TQ and HP. They only start at 2500rpm so it's reasonable to think that around 2k and less you can be losing close to 8-9 lb/ft of torque which my Butt Dyno will notice. Clearly the theory is there for losing power with an exhaust. There is plenty more of this type of info out there. This is just one source I found.

Well, I just ordered the Ford Racing Sport w/ Black Tips. I'll let you all know what I think about comparing the two in a couple weeks. I'll sell my existing setup to anyone willing to come to Scotts Valley for pickup –*$500 cash. PM me if you're interested.

I just installed the Borla Atak cat back with black tips, this past weekend. 2.5'' with X pipe. It does as advertised...........Aggressive, deep tone. :headbang:

Nice! It'll be good to hear what you think of the two different setups. I'm still happy with my street but I do want to hear it with someone else driving. Just wondering Could you have just got axle backs and left the h pipe there? Or is there more pipe needed for it to connect.
