So not a bad day at work today. Yokohama was sponsoring what they they call a "Ride and Drive". Everyone was able to drive 4 cars each with a different set of tires. We drove on the Yokohama Avid Envigor, Advan A/S, S-Drive and AD08R.

Since I had never done an autocross before it was definitely a learning experience but so much fun. Cars drove great and I loved the feel of the cars but I pushed the last car too hard and plowed a couple times. I hope I can do some more autocrosses in the future and am definitely hooked now. If you haven't done it I would definitely recommend it to get a much better feeling for your car.

Anyways, just wanted to share and might have to pick up a new Mustang in the near future...

Thanks for reading!

I had a friend that did autocross when we were in high school, always wanted to try it but never did. Now that I got the mustang I think I want to try it and also try some drifting.

I would do it for sure! The good part is that its cheap to enter and relatively cheap to run. The only cost is tires but since the runs are so short and speeds so low you can get lots of runs out of a set.

I know some people that do it too but I was always nervous to do it because I didn't know a lot about it. But the important thing to realize is that many experienced guys love to help and every course is different so there is always a learning curve for everyone.

Its a great venue to get a better feel for your car and the limits in a safe environment and make you a better driver on the street.

I love my S-Drives on my Fox Body. Not good to autocross on tho. That looks like a good event. Wonder if they will make it to Dallas.

Get out there an autocross. Check the interwebz, find a local club and get out there. They all are kind to Novices and it is a real fun way to spend the day.

If anyone's in North Texas, contact me and I'll put you together with one of the 5 clubs we have running up here.

We had a bunch of people come in off the street to try and participate but the event is only open to employees or tire dealers. I was glad they used the S550 this year instead of the FR-S's they had been using in the past as I have been wanting to drive one. Loved how the car drove!

I liked the S-Drives actually. I think they did well compared to the other tires we had to drive but not as much grip at the AD08R for obvious reasons. I would definitely like to try an autocross when they hold one locally again. Its addicting once you try it!
