Dustin you are absolutely correct, for a manual transmission I don't think 15% is the drivetrain loss anymore it's probably closer to your 13% now with newer technology and efficiencies of the drivetrain. We all know that these motors are underrated from the factory that has been proven time and time again, no way the motor makes 435HP at the crank it has to be around 445-450HP range to start with! So 395HP on the dyno should be just about spot on that I can see now! So again thank you so much Todd for all of your time and effort and proving that you can make over 500HP naturally aspirated! This is the route I will be going as well.

depends on what your wanting as far as redline

only point of going so far past peak power, put our 2011 car we shift at 8000, with a boss pcm in it, with the 15's, I think we have pulled them to 8500 or so

LMFAO is that fucking safe.. I get scared in 4th gear at the end of the quarter mile when im at like 7400 rpm..

Yeah Rockstar, this is the same route I will be going as well. the only problem I see, is after watching a header install is that looks like a pain.

Thanks OP for the progression charts. I've been debating about headers, but haven't been convinced enough to pull the trigger on the big price tag. Thanks again for putting the time in to post this.

He has, but i'd still like some track times.
Tracks just opened in Michigan 5 days ago. He is also waiting for his new 1400HP axles before he runs the car.

Hey guys, my question regarding the headers in the OP, is that was without cats. How much of the 19hp gain was due to no cats. I think I read where someone used the MAK cat delete and that alone was worth near 12rwhp. I understand under the curve the gains could be greater. When I see this I feel the naysayers are correct, headers aren't really worth that much for these cars anymore.

I would want to run HFC's, which would negate quite a bit of the gains imho.

Catted vs non catted headers are pretty negligible. Estimates are 3-10hp for cat v. No cat. You're talking a tenth if not hundredths of a second.

Well according to Jay who sells the stuff...

The Catted version you will usually net about 10hp less than the uncatted version. Catted is fine when staying N/A, the power difference will be negligible but the sound will be different.
That means in my eyes the headers are only worth about 9-10rwhp over the OEM manifolds...

This is the same issue on the bimmerboards as ARH is now releasing headers for the S65 engine for the E9X M3s. The OEM header on the S65 are actually quite good. A pic of a OEM S65 header..

When I see whats going on over here as well it makes me question it even more. From the looks of the OEM coyote manifolds you would think there would be a lot more there.

you're doing alot more for the car than removing the cats when doing aftermarket headers.

Roush made 750 with stock manifolds. I think headers help but they are last on the list for me.

He needs to hurry up and get to the track! Right now he is just racing the dyno.

Sure, but how much more would they have made at the same boost with headers? Of course the argument is: who needs even 750 on the street?

Depends what you are planning to do. If you are going go forced induction, sure put that $1000-$2000 towards a SC instead of headers (if you aren't planning on doing both).

For me, given I am looking at about $7500+cdn (with no install) for a procharger stage one kit, the ~2000cdn installed price of the Stainless Power headers is a happy compromise.

Sure I will not see anywhere near the power of the SC, but I'm not paying that kind of money for a SC.

That's why our vortech packages are so popular. Under 6k

If only I lived in the States or the canadian dollar was what it was in November.

$5900usd = ~7200cdn. Then add on shipping and brokerage fees. And then another $1000 or so for the install. And then, of course, throw taxes into the mix. Coming up fast on $9000. Too rich for my blood - or at least more than I am willing to pay.

I sure do wish there was more hp on table for NA builds.
