I've read that wheels that have spokes that connect to the barrel (like the Targa) make for a stronger wheel.

obviously besides putting the statistics of a cast, rotory forged, and fully forged aside.

A full face wheel where the spokes go all the way to the edge is normally stronger then a wheel where the face stops prior to the edge or a lipped wheel, back in the day I probably changed out every corner of my old setup which had a massive 6" lip all around.
