I googled "Micro USB drive" and came up with a whole boat-load o' choices in tiny USB drives on Amazon. Picked up a couple of 16G units for <$10.

I just need to figure the sorting, as my system is playing them all in file order, flattening the directories (all files in one long string)

Anybody have any idea why I have to unplug my harddrive and plug it back in after every startup for Sync to recognize it? I have a WD 1T usb3 drive with 8000+ songs on it. It's quite annoying but after unplugging and plugging it back in, it does not re-index and it also knows what song I left off on.

I have no problems with a little 8gb usb jump drive... I don't get it.

Unfortunately, you're just out of spec with the hard drive. The firmware on the disk is interpreting the status change of the USB from data to power to off as a port failure and requires the reset of the connection to reinitialize the communication. By contrast the flash/jump drive is just raw mass storage and has no disk protective logic built into the drive.

Thanks man, makes perfect sense.

Anyone know if SYNC 3 will support 16bit FLAC? Backed off my purchase to order a '16 on 5/11. Chomping at the bit, but feel it's worth it with all of the upgrades. TIA!

I don't know about Sync 3, but the latest Chrysler system does, so there is hope that it would be included.
