Fully Stripped. Ready for the New Skin.
The 2021 Shelby GT500 project has officially moved past the “stock” chapter.
The entire interior is now out of the car and laid out on the shop floor dashboard, center console, steering wheel, door panels, kick panels, and every trim piece that will be touched. Nothing is left in place. This is the clean starting point we needed before any new material goes on.
The next step is the first real transformation: a full reupholstery in premium Nappa leather and Alcantara.
We’re not doing a simple color swap. The plan is a complete new design language tighter, more aggressive, and built around the way this car will actually be used. Nappa for the main surfaces where you want that soft, high-end feel and durability. Alcantara on the high-contact and high-visibility zones for grip, contrast, and that motorsport texture. The combination has to look factory-correct in execution but custom in character.
Every piece you see in the photo is about to disappear under new material. The Recaros, the dash, the doors, the console all of it gets stripped down to the structure, then rebuilt to the new spec. Fitment has to be perfect. Stitching has to be consistent. The lines have to flow from the seats into the dash and doors like they were designed that way from the factory.
This is the stage that decides whether the finished interior feels like a well-done custom or like something that still belongs in this GT500.
The car is empty. The parts are ready. The materials are next.
