Looks like this one requires a tune and has a different filter?

I think the regular CAI doesn't require a tune like this race version does.

I just don't understand why they didn't just offer this in the first place with/without the box... granted I understand them wanting to appeal to the people who didn't want to tune. but they should have just had an option for what size tubing they wanted.

Read further down. It says for track only because it does not offer enough particulate protection for every day use.

Exactly.

"They are intended for use in a controlled racing environment (track use only) and are not recommended for street use as they do not provide enough particulate protection for daily driving."

So doesn't that mean you can just throw another filter on there that airaid uses for their regular intakes? I like the open design of this intake better then the regular airaid.

Why? Would you rather be pulling air from the engine bad or a sealed box pulling the air from a tube to the grill (outside air/breeze). I think the regualr design makes practical sense the way its designed.

So was just on the American Muscle site and you can now pre-order Air Raids new "Race" CAI.. What are they trying to gain from this? And what do they think the difference could be? Link below.

Hey Mike - Great question/find! We've been working with Airaid for quite some time now and the Track Day Dry Filters are pretty trick and in my opinion they're going to be geared for Track Monsters or if you're simply looking to increase the airflow when making some 1/4 Mile Passes.

The filters themselves are made just as any other (polyurethane casing, wire mesh, four layers of high flow cotton) but they differ from their regular filters because the don't have the synthetic layer (The regular filter has 4 layers plus the synthetic layer)

I think the regular CAI doesn't require a tune like this race version does.
Yeah tune required

That's correct guys! The Race Version will not have the sleeve built into the Cold Air like the "Non-Tune"

I just don't understand why they didn't just offer this in the first place with/without the box... granted I understand them wanting to appeal to the people who didn't want to tune. but they should have just had an option for what size tubing they wanted.
Mike - I think they went this route because more customers will likely shoot for the Non-Tune before they get the itch for more power!

It's absolutely possible: Depending on your preference you can mix and match - You're not held to just one or the other!

I think it's merely for guys that are just doing a HPDE/Or just heading to the track after work on a Friday!

I hope this helps! Let me know if anyone has any other questions!
