I highly doubt it. Yes the GT350 will be a great vehicle but its no C7. The C7s are outperforming GTRs on road courses. By your assumption you're saying the GT350 will beat a GTR..I don't see it. The GT350 will be comparable to a 1LE and Z/28.
Oh there is definitely the possibility. Magnaride suspension, finally good tires and brakes, and a HP advantage to make up for the weight difference. The GT350 is going to roll some heads.

Now will it compete with the Z06, most likely not. Thats what we have the new GT coming out for :) Ford is doing it right.

The Z/28 was faster than a GTR. I'm not saying the Z/28 is a great car at all. I'm just saying that if the GT350 is comparable to a z/28 it'll be faster than a GTR.

This, the only time I've seen the GTR get faster times is on a more open track (ex: The Ring). So if the GT350 is comparable to the Z28, it should hold its own verses the GTR on tighter tracks. That's of course assuming it can hang with the Z28. Not to sound negative, but I'd be surprised if it did. Ford sounded like they wanted to make this car affordable, so it should be priced pretty far south of 75k.

But time will tell. I don't think it needs to beat the Z28 to be considered a success because of the stark price difference and the fact that the Z28 is a stripped down daily driver (no ac or stereo, thinner glass, less sound deadening, etc.). I don't think it'd be too much to ask for it to actually beat the 1LE though

Pretty sure the Z28 put up better times than the C7 did at VIR, by a healthy margin to boot (about 3 seconds).

While I'm not going to say that the GT350 will compete with the C7 stingray, I do think its not outlandish to think that it may. Power to weight ratio should be close. With the IRS, better rubber and brakes, and whatever else its going to have, it very well could be a "shoulder to shoulder" comparison.

And if that's the case its a definite win. The Z28 is priced much higher, so that's a lot to ask of the GT350 to match. But the C7 is close in price, assuming the rumored low/mid 50k price is accurate. If Ford hits that benchmark, or even right behind it, its a win in my book. Car mags drooled and praised the C7, and rightfully so imo. Here's hoping Ford hit a similar home run :)

True but from what i could find the Z/28 and GTR were neck and neck while the C7 was a second if not 2 faster.

It'll be interesting but I really think the hype train needs to be slowed down. Just look at the GT hype train.

- it'll lose weight!
- over 450 HP!
- it'll destroy a Boss and 1LE!
-14 GTs will only see taillights!

Just saying

Lol I have been following this site for a long time and have to say I find you absolutely ridiculous and hilarious. Before you announced to the forum in 20 different posts that you bought a C7, you were the biggest defender of the new Mustang and anyone that came on here praising (or even owning) another car was met with your attitude, sarcasm, attacks and responses such as "THIS IS A MUSTANG FORUM" "DONT FEED THE TROLL" or "READ THE RULES."

Now that you own another car not only do you inexplicably still hang out here but your posts have of course turned more negative on the Mustang as you find a way to work in something about the C7 into an unrelated thread. I just had to point out this irony and anyone can go into your post history to see it. I have no doubt before you bought the C7, you would have done the same thing.

By all real-world accounts, stock-for-stock, the new GT PP absolutely obliterates a Boss 302, at least according to Vorshlag's Terry Fair and crew. These guys drive Mustangs (and some others) for a living, so I definitely trust what they say. Those hanging onto the Motor Trend head-to-head seemingly only do so because it reaffirms everything they wanted to hear in the first place; since then, there have been plenty of instances where the 2015 Mustang was proven to be a far superior vehicle than what was stated in that very first, aforementioned head-to-head.

Of course, the Camaro has never really fared well in the real-world, at least relative to the lofty standards the rags have created for it. Que Camaro ZL1 getting spanked by a tuned Boss 302 video.

The C7 is a magnificent vehicle. Congratulations on your purchase.

Thankfully that has no bearing on whether or not what they said was true. And it is. You were part of the hype train for the S550... So yea, there's a lot of irony there that you're now complaining about it.

The C7 is an amazing car, but on what track was it a second or two faster than a GTR and a Z28? I wouldn't mind seeing a link or two about that. From what I've seen its the other way around, the C7 being a few seconds slower.

You're a living example of hypocrisy. You call other people hyper sensitive and you're the one leaving the forum? Glad you're not over reacting or anything...

Who was right/wrong/trolling/obnoxious/whatever...I don't care

What I DO care about are numbers and head to head times. Brent302, could you please post a link to the times you are speaking of with the C7 faster than the Z28? I personally haven't looked up any numbers so I don't know right or wrong going into this, just want to see an article stating the facts.

So when you say the C7 is outperforming GTRs, you mean the Z06, because the standard C7 ain't in the ball park!

Tested by Edmunds

"Around the track, the new ‘Vette is somewhat of a monster, outrunning the GT-R around the*1.6-mile Streets of Willow by nearly a second (1:24.6 to 1:25.2), and an average of 2 mph faster per lap."

The Vette used was a 2014 3LT Z51

The GTR was a 2014 Track Edition
